This is how I sit. Even in restaurants. 8O I think it's because I am short and if I don't sit on my leg I can't reach the table or desk to eat or work comfortably. At home, I usually sit on a firm couch/throw pillow to prop me up higher. At work I could adjust my chair and didn't have to sit on my leg. But even now, as I type, I am sitting on my bed with one leg tucked under me and one leg hanging off the bed. So perhaps it is a habit I have developed. Can't be good for circulation.

Yah. I used to get into trouble as a child for sitting like a guy with my ankle over my knee (and I was a little girl growing up in the 50s before girls were allowed to wear pants to school). To this day, I'm more comfortable in that pose, but middle-aged women are not supposed to sit like that either.

Well, if I had a girl that was wearing a small skirt or dress, I wouldn't want her sitting that way either. Of course, I would feel the same about a male in a kilt.

As for ME? I ended up sitting in an odd position such that I could easily get up from the ground without changing my center of gravity much. Of course, I WAS wearing pants.

I got yelled at by a boss (who was going to yell at me anyway) because when she told me to sit down because she wanted to speak to me, I assumed my natural cross legged position....So she yelled at me to sit like an adult and so I walked off the job.

Always. I usually sit with one leg drawn up and tucked under the other. Sometimes I sit other ways but my legs are always crossed unless they are wrapped around the chair legs, which reminds me of something else that feels related somehow.

If I am sitting next to a grating or grillework of any kind and I don't watch myself I'll find that I've sort of woven my arms, or if it's small my fingers, into the mesh. It happens quite unconsciously; somehow it just feels very natural and comforting to be entangled with something that way.

Does anyone else here do that?

I could definitely get tangled up in the grillwork. I don't know why it seems so appealing.

I've sat with my legs folded. I also sit with them unfolded too.

I don't understand why people would give you a hard time about it, lot of people sit that way.

On the floor, I'm usually sitting on my feet and legs or in the W position with my feet off to the side. It's very childish looking, and it's supposed to be bad for your joints. It's the only position that's comfortable and natural though, and my joints have never had a problem, mabe because I'm light bodied.

On a chair, my legs are folded up with me on the chair, unless I'm in a formal setting or in public. Then I have to struggle with keeping my legs where they're supposed to be.
