The intention must not necesarily be that ugly threads elsewhere should be moved there. I would rather see this as a kind of humorous forum where trolls could live out their fantasies under controlled conditions.

Why should bobaloo get a whole forum to himself?

Joking, for anyone that takes everything seriously.

Bad idea though, in my opinion. It encourages members to be nasty to one another.

I strongly disagree. Trolling is a stupid dumbshit trait characteristic of people in deperate need of a thorough ass kicking. Not an AS trait. Therefore, the best solution to trolling is to just ban their ret*d asses.

Exactly.
It has absolutely nothing to do with AS,trolling is premeditated annoying of other forum users to make them fight back, for the trolls own amusement.
If someone with AS is unable to say anything but what they believe in,it is a spontaneous action and not premeditated and not intentionally used to annoy others.

I think trolling and freedom of speech have been mixed up.

Since people here seems so sure about their opinion about trolling not being an Aspie-trait, I'll include it in the next version of Aspie-quiz just to prove you are wrong.

I still don't clearly see what trolling is. I spend a rediculous amount of time just browsing this forum, is that not a quality of trolling? Or is trolling definitely something more sinister?

Nomaken, have a look here for some explanations:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll
It has lots of definitions of the forum/newsgroup troll.

A person is not a troll if they spend a lot of time using a forum,a troll is vindictive and their actions are premeditated/thought out,so they know what they are doing is wrong, but they do it anyway to amuse themselves.

read my post on page one. its when someone who stereotypes a certain group, acts the way that they stereotype them in. and they act this way around them in order to purposely offend them.

I think those definitions are overly negative. Many times people with original ideas that do not fit the norm, are called trolls. I don't think these definitions are very accurate at all. People with such excellent manipulative traits as described would not be doing anything like this, because they are psychopaths with many easier ways to take advantage of people.

Trolls have many ways of trolling, and only one of them is doing an exaggerated stereotype of the group of people they are mocking. The thing about trolls isn't necessarily the originality of their ideas but their craving for attention or exhilaration by sowing the seeds of chaos or by starting controversy for no good reason. Trolls will often step directly outside the bounds of what is normally considered polite discussion in a group by questioning the group's norms. Of course, the intentions and intelligence of trolls vary, and some of them are just malicious.

It is probably true that trolls are more likely to be psychopaths than the norm, but most trolls by far probably are not psychopaths. If personality disorders are to be discussed, histrionic, narcissistic, and antisocial personality traits are probably the most frequently seen among trolls. I'd actually use a different taxonomy, Internet troll personality disorder, to describe someone adversely affected by their trolling.

A troll forum would make no sense - by the definition it looks like they want to go on threads started by others and create controversy, as well as start controversial threads. To give them a forum of their own would remove all the attention they are getting by provoking people.

I disagree that this is an apsergers trait. i think it is a trait of those who have poor self esteem who since they can't get good attention have to be satisfied with getting lots of bad attention directed at them or achieved vicariously by getting others to give bad attention to each other. I think sometimes people here respond bluntly with what they feel is the truth and that is interpreted as trolling. This I would agree is an aspergers trait.

I always thought a troll was someone without any sincere interest in a forum who arrives for no other reason than to stir up trouble or promote online gambling?

Happeh seems to "perseverate" on a rather unusual topic in a rather unusual way but I don't see him as a troll.

A troll subforum might be interesting.. but what about the other mythical creatures? Would they feel excluded?

I hardly think trolls could have poor self esteem. It would almost require good self esteem and insensitivity to negative feedback and social pressure to keep up with this. At least the lack of interest for others views and social conformity would be consistent with an aspie-trait.

If they did that on an ordinary forum often enough, the troll label would very fast be put upon them.

That is an interesting remark. What would you see him as? Perhaps there is a better term I don't know about?

The twelve commandments of trolling. wrote:

1
Make things up about your opponent: It's important to make your lies sound true. Preface your argument with the word "clearly."
"Clearly, Brian Hillis is a racist, and a dirtball to boot."

2
Be an armchair psychologist: You're a smart person. You've heard of Freud. You took a psychology course in college. Clearly, you're qualified to psychoanalyze your opponent. "Peach Pshawski, by using the word 'zucchini' in her posting, shows she has a bad case of ... "

3
Cross-post your trolls: Everyone on the net is just waiting for the next literary masterpiece to leave your terminal. From OPINION to EZ-READER to PETS to CHIT-CHAT, they're all holding their breaths until your next troll. Therefore, post everywhere.

4
Conspiracies abound: If everyone's against you, the reason can't possibly be that you're a ******. There's obviously a conspiracy against you, and you will be doing the entire net a favor by exposing it.

5
Lawsuit threats: This is the reverse of Commandment #4 (sort of like the Yin & Yang of trolling). Threatening a lawsuit is always considered to be in good form. "By saying that I've posted to the wrong group, Didley has libelled me, slandered me, and sodomized me. See you in court, Didley."

6
Force them to document their claims: Even if Ralph Gagliano states outright that he likes tomato sauce on his pasta, you should demand documentation. If Newsweek hasn't written an article on Ralph's pasta preferences, then Ralph's obviously lying.

7
Use foreign phrases: French is good, but Latin is the lingua franca of trolling. You should use the words "ad hominem" at least three times per article. Other favorite Latin phrases are "ad nauseum," "vini, vidi, vici," "fetuccini alfredo,"...

8
Tell 'em how smart you are: Why use intelligent arguments to convince them you're smart when all you have to do is tell them? State that you're a member of Mensa or Mega or Dorks of America. Tell them the scores you received on every exam since high school. "I got an 800 on my SATs, LSATs, GREs, MCATs, and I can also spell the word 'premeiotic.'"

9
Accuse your opponent of censorship. It is your inalienable right to post whatever the hell you want to the net. Anyone who tries to limit your cross-posting is either a communist, a fascist, or both.

10
Doubt their existence: You've never actually seen your opponent, have you? And since you're the center of the universe, you should have seen them by now, shouldn't you? Therefore, they do not exist! This is the beauty of troll's logic.

11
Lie, cheat, steal, leave the toilet seat up.

12
When in doubt, insult: If you forget the other 11 rules, remember this one. At some point during your wonderful career as a troll, you will undoubtedly end up in a flame war with someone who is better than you. This person will expose your lies, tear apart your arguments, make you look generally like a bozo. At this point, there's only one thing to do: insult the dirtbag!! ! "Oh yeah? Well, your mother does strange things with ... "

The Golden Rule of Trolling:
May your trolls be witty,
insulting, interesting, paradoxical,
funny, illogical, caustic, sarcastic,
even inconsistent - but never, ever, let them be boring.

Seriously, with all the effort some people put into trolling, they could convert that energy into something slightly more productive (ie initiating global warfare *just kidding*).
