I have been for short periods of time, when under overwhelming stress, REALLY bad thoughts in those periods, otherwise no, I'm not.

I LOVE people. Preferably from as far away as possible.

Really? I find people tiring, but not totally a bad thing.
Have you had mainly bad experiences with people?

Certainly not all my experiences are "bad". I have a small group of really good friends, my partner is amazing and my soon-to-be-ex-boss is a cool guy. It's almost everyone outside of that small circle that I can't deal with: The rude drivers, the shallow salespeople, the competitive intellectual types (on and on and on...). That is why I try very hard to remain in my circle and venture out only when absolutely necessary.

I'm like that, but I can socialise outside of my circle, but not as well as I can IN my circle.
It's like in History (GCSE) someone asked what the Holocaust was.
They then proceeded to ask for a foot massage from me.

It's experiences like this that keep them out of my circle, but at a cost.
Sorry, if I sound vague.

The same thing happened to me, except instead of the foot, it was a private part. They were really good at pressuring me and persuading me. And I thought I'd be one of the cool kids. I never knew this was bad.

Although some of the things people do make me feel sad and confused, I do not hate people.

I voted yes. I don't hate people. I just find them stupid, annoying, boring, and in generally not worth the effort. I only like people who can have an intelligent conversation. Unfortunately that rules out about 99% of the population.

I'm a misanthrope.. I can't stand humanity in general most people are little better than animals.

But at the same time I want to save humanity from itself and fix those ugly traits that make them such destructive, dangerous and shameful creatures.

I'd like to help them become a species I can be proud to be a part of but am ashamed to call myself human with the way things are now.

My understanding was that misanthropy was pure hatred for all mankind. I wouldn't say I'd go as far to say that I hate EVERYone....but I do dislike a good portion of the general population.
