So NTs think everyone is out to get them, and therefore even a compliment must have some sort of negative hidden meaning?

Wow, no wonder I was so hated at the forum I used to participate in. I was nice to everybody!
I guess that means I was actually trying to be very mean behind my words.

Some NTs are so full of nonsense.

To be fair, NTs aren't as ignorant to this as you guys think. They make lists JUST like that as (somewhat) jokes because many of them HATE the non-direct ways of many

tried googling, cant find it...someone else look fo rit

People are stupid when they don't listen to words. Sometimes I get that but I ignore it. Once people get to know me, they know to listen to my words.

not all of them. a decent portion. And they might get suspicious because autistic people might phrase it in a way a NT doesn't so it seems off-setting and might jar them in some way and might make them suspicious

People have told me "I love your (insert clothing here)" and I didn't think anything. I just thought they liked it.

Remember, when people get so dramatic, it's probably them not you guys. It's even possible they aren't NT and they have something wrong with them and we don't even know it.

People with manic depression get upset for no reason. They blow up for no reason. My ex's mother had that and even the littlest things would set her off. I wonder how her husband dealt with it all. She couldn't even hold down a job because of her illness, so she was on SSI for it. She also had Bipolar.

Yet lot of us complain how misunderstood we are, but yet we turn around and misunderstand someone else. We don't even consider they might have problems too and they are not NT, so they get upset over nothing people wouldn't normally get upset about such as receiving a compliment.

If only everyone carried a label on them. Then that make things a lot easier.

Go around and we see people with signs on them saying "Manic depression" "Bipolar" "Autism" "Dyspraxia" "ADD" "Schizophrenia" "Mental retardation" etc.

"The fame and riches mean nothing to me; it's my children that mean everything in my life." means "You go focus on your kids and let me continue getting rich undisturbed by envy".

"This is not a good time" means "I don't want to discuss this EVER".

"We cherish and foster each student's individuality" means "As long as it's silly individuality and doesn't get in the way of the school's bigwigs' interests"."

This list is a winner! (The OP's one is a little harsh)

As others have pointed out, this double-speak of NTs goes on everywhere. NTs use double-speak all the time to discuss things that are difficult for them to think about, not just interpersonal double-speak. It's part of the social skills, to be able to discuss things without discussing them, or to find language to use to discuss things that are ugly.

If you have an investigative mind you can figure out what is really happening, just by identifying double-speak. The way you do this is to spot the attitude of the speaker who is using the double-speak, how often it is used and how (like ritually or in reference to big unresolved questions). So there is a kind of "double-speak attitude" and once you learn to spot the attitude, you can figure out when someone is using double-speak and from there piece out what is really going on.

Here's some from the current economic crisis:

"Too big to let fail" == "Has friends running the treasury department"
"federal loans secured by collateralized debt assets" == "money for something no one else will buy"
"700 Billion dollar bailout" == "China please come buy more of our treasury notes so we can buy out the Wall Street gamblers"
"stimulus package" == "send money to the consumers so they will go out and buy Chinese imports, thus enabling China to continue to grow, and come here and buy more treasury notes, so that Washington can raise the money to pay off the debts of Wall Street gamblers"

When you see the same phrases pop up over and over, to refer to ambiguous or not-quite-defined elephants in the room, and no one can explain specifically what these phrases mean, you know that you are running into double-speak. When you figure out what the double-speak means, then you can figure out what their game is.

TRUE meaning is that the courts have failed to prevent monopolies, and such behaviour, and ENFORCE LAWS(such as glass steagall which Clinton got rid of just before he left office!)! That means that a failure of a few car companies will cause an economic collapse because of the monopolistic behaviour. Bank failures are VERY unlikely because of glass steagall! OH YEAH, the courts didn't enforce it, and clinton decided to get rid of it! THANKS clinton!(sarc)

ephemerella wrote:

Actually, that means the federal government is loaning money based on bonds(aka debt assets) that are secured by collateral(things having a value reasonably close to what is loaned)

ephemerella wrote:

ACTUALLY, this is a 700 Billion Dollar GRANT given to Henry Paulson! There is EVEN a clause saying that HE decides where the money goes, and can NOT be held acountable! Don't you just LOVE the government?(sarc) THANKS CONGRESS(sarc)

Actually, most people on wall street LOST money. The AIG garbage has GOT to STOP! The biggest loser in my portfolio is AIG. If they want to pay for parties, GREAT! I THINK THEY SHOULD! I think that they should pay EVERY investor back that had ANY money invested in them at any time between october 1st and november 1st! They should pay 100% of what it was at it's high at that point, or the investment price(whichever is more), and the money should come from their entire budget in that time, INCLUDING SALARIES! If they can't pay it, they should use section 93 of the bankruptcy code, SOLELY AGAINST THEMSELVES and coconspirators!! !! !! !!

ALSO, most CITIZENS, even those not in the stock market, LOST MONEY! But this is just a smokescreen. A cute name given to GARBAGE to make it sound better. It is interesting that the OFFICIAL name is T.A.R.P.(Troubled Assets Relief Program)! And WHAT is a tarp used for? It is generally used to protect, or HIDE, what is underneath. Shouldn't we ask for a C.L.E.A.N.U.P.G.O.V.E.R.N.M.E.N.T.A.B.U.S.E.S bill!?!?!?

that would be my thought also. I compliment people a lot myself but I always genuinely like the thing I'm complimenting. it would never occur to me to interpret compliments I get in such negative way.

Gee, I´d love to contribute to this conversation, but I guess that´s hard, because I don´t seem to know what anything really means. I just tend to take things at face value.

I just get confused when a man starts to speak and act all "cool", and like he´s not into it. When I start to detach- because I figure, why bother?- then he gets all upset, and like I hurt his feelings, and did some horrible thing. Confuses the hell out of me, and has destroyed some relationships, as well as potential relationships...

If other people have trouble with speaking, well, too bad. If they choose to speak in that stupid kind of way, I can´t help it if I misunderstand them. If people want to be understood, they should just say what they mean- or accept the consequences.
