swinging is said to be very useful to the whole spectrum [not just as],can only remember one word out of the whole reason given for it-vestibular...not much help.

am used to go to the rowans mencap centre only to use the swings in the garden out the back, they are the most awesome swings have ever used, they're like plastic car seats, high back, with bigger sides around them, have padded cushions and have harnesses on them to be strapped in,am have fallen off every other swing have ever used until trying this one,am feel better after a go on them.
Have been waiting to buy the same swings [and the frame to go with it] for years, but because am moved about a lot, there has been no point in getting a set as they would have to be stuck down.

I used to fantasize about Tails' adult playground idea. If I had the capital to make such a place, I'd totally do it. I think it'd be a hit.

Yeah, I think that's right... "vestibular stimulation"? That's practice figuring out where you are and how you're moving, involved with balance and spatial orientation.

I love swing and jumping on trampolines. There are play places that I take my kids to and we have so much fun. These places encourage parents to play too. One place is called, 'Pump It Up'. They had inflatable jump houses, slides, obstacle course and rock wall climbing. so much fun. Another place has three level play area with tube tunnels, slides, ball pits, climbing areas, etc. fun, fun, fun!! !! Next time I go, I'm taking knee pads and elbow pads so I can crawl through the tunnels without hurting my knees and scraping my elbows when i go down the slides.

Yea, I miss swing sets, and the park... I usually always go w/ my homegirl and her friends, seeing as my homeboys only want to step into a comic shop or coffee shop... which eventually gets boring for me... gives me a chance to get out more.

I could never figure out why I couldn't just keep swinging 'all' the way around, you know doing a 360. I tried for years using evey possible method I could invent. Then somebody told be about Isaac Newton and I was horribly disappointed by it all and gave up swings and tried doing 'Tilt-Whirls' at the carnivals which were way better. I'm addicted to sensations of speed.

I hate them - my vestibular system is hypersensitive and they make me dizzy. But I've heard that aspies either have a hyposensitive or a hypersensitive vestibular system, so if you have the former, you feel the urge to swing, and if you have the latter, you avoid it.

Given the choice I would rather not wing all the way through 360 degrees, one of my worries is that each time you zoom round the chain would get a little shorter becuase it would be wrapped around the bar at the top of the swing set.

But I do like to have a go on the Swings and I like to swing so much that I can see over the top bar at the highest moment just before I start to zoom forwards. I sometimes have a go on the swings but I do not get a chance very oftein.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

As a child, I really loved swinging and jumping on the trampoline...(is this an Aspie trait? I didn´t know it).
I still like to swing, when I get the chance. By the way, I´m 47...

It's a 'motion' thing that I think goes back to when we were in the womb just washing back and forth in our own little liquid sea as Mom walked around the house creating waves in our small universes.

I love swinging! That's what I always did during recess when I was in elementary school.
