i don't like it at all but i try to get into it because my fiance and son love it, i do like cooking christmas dinner though, there is something really satisfying about making a roast dinner

I love the lights, trees and children's smiles...

as for me I enjoy making others happy, but somehow the magic has never been there for me, I often think this is because my imagination is better than my reality at times...

I absolutely hate it, thanks to the insane commercialization, and since they moved the "Holiday Season" up to October 31.

Nah. I love it too even though I am too. I just do it because it's a tradition I grew up with and I still listen to Christmas music that talks about Jesus Christ. That is about the only religious music I can stand and others I heard as a kid.

Around Christmas I feel six years old but then again I'm always in touch with my inner child.

There's a spike in the suicide rates during Christmas because during the holidays, you are supposed to be happy. During the holidays, you are supposed to be with family & friends, doing joyous Christmassy things. But if you have any personal problems, the Christmas holidays magnify them tenfold. If you have no family, no friends, or are ina some kind of miserable situation, the irony of it is what drives people to kill themselves.

Which is why I think it's incumbent on the Haves to help the Have-Nots during the holidays, and not just materially.

Christmas highjacked the god Yule.

The tree was worshipped long before Christ arrived, and it was a pagan feast of fertility and worship of the tree as a phallic symbol.

Now we had a Jewish infant with blue eyes and blond curly locks in a manger...GIVE US YULE BACK!! !

I am sort of looking forward to christmas even though things are not going as I would like. but it is a day to forget all that at least.
I like having festive avatars. It is like xmas decorations for my posts.

As for xmas being yule yes it is a weird hybridised day with several unrelated festivals thrown clumsily together... but it is fun! And yule is kind of ridiculous to celebrate in the southern hemisphere anyway, we are having our summer solstice.

i love christmas, my new fire agate kindof looks like christmas with green, orange and a little bit of purrple and blue in it. i love winter, snow and reindeer. santa is ok too

And as for Jesus having blond hair and blue eyes, well I have met Russian Jewish people with blond hair and blue eyes. Perhaps he was a Russian Jewish baby, dropped off on a time machine. Perhaps that is what the star was: the time machine arriving.

haha great explanation. my aunt is severly religious and when i told her jesus wasnt white with long curly hair she almost punched me in the face. i was all auntie he was a blackman and had nappy hair can you hear me now? she freaked.

I am sure somewhere in Arizona there's an Xmas tree covered entirely in ornaments made out of that funky gemstone...
