I'm not sure what to say... you understand yourself so well, better than I understand myself.
I am feeling some of the same things that you are feeling. I too have "lost my soul". Reading your dream helped make my own seem clearer. Your words speak to my own heart, my own problems.
Thank you for posting this, and keep trying. Maybe if you keep writing, you will help yourself and other like me, too.
Here is one question: don't you have a medical degree?
I have a bachelors in pre med. you are so kind to me. That is such a nice thing to say. I wish I had a friend like you. I could really use a friend.
Okay. So have a degree and when you get better, you can start to find a new career. So you do have a starting point, where you can pick up and start over, when you are finished working out what you are trying to work out.
I'm sorry, but I can't be friends. I don't like to be friends with people. I like people, but I don't like to do the things that people do to be friends. I don't answer emails and I don't answer phone calls. Even online, I don't like to make friends. It's something I have, like a disability.
I'm going to say what I said before, you write beautifully and you tell your stories very well. You should show your stories to the doctors, and they will see better how to help you, I bet. I don't speak well in person, and I found if I give some professional I'm working on in a project additional material, it makes a big difference. Just looking at your posts, there is a lot that a good doctor can work with, if they read them.
Good luck!

I was in a forest being chased down by someone with a knife, I disarm him and throw it away and keep running. This forest had a lot of animals in it at one time, but they were all being cleared out to make it more "safe" for people. The forest was basicly being assaulted. As I had almost escaped from the forest, I notice a wolf just off the path, he looks at me as if he is ready to attack, but not going to unless something happens, and I just stare into its eye with bewilderment, and it returns the same stare as if we are both feeling the same pain.
EDIT: I actually am curious as to what this means, and more so the last part with the wolf... To add to it, the wolf was somehow different from everything else in the forest
Thats an interesting dream. I know that usually when one dreams of being in a forest they are seeking sanctuary. It's peaceful and you won't be disturbed. However, if you dreamed that someone was chasing you down with a knife then you feel as if someone is violating you and your safe place.. but you stopped him and made it known that this was your safe haven. And the fact that you saw the animals being cleared out means that you were trying to make your safe place as safe as could be. And dreaming about the wolf in that context, the way you described it symbolizes loneliness. What that means is that even though you feel lonely, value what you may consider to be safe. And perhaps being alone may make you sad but you may feel safe that way... is this true?
I should clarify a couple of things:
The animals being clearred out were not harmful, the only potentially harmful thing there was the wolf. It was almost as if I shared the experience of being cleared out with the animal, and the guy with the knife wasn't just after me, but everyone. The people clearing the forest were clearing it for themto be happy with, and I wanted to escape it so I could be safe. I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but it was also set in the winter time, with a snow everywhere, and somepatches where frozen ground could be seen.
You obviously felt violated in your dream, that your safe haven was being violated and this obviously upset you.. and since you shared the experience with the animals, this may mean you have a hard time trusting people.. the guy with the knife would represent someone who you don't trust, again someone who you feel would violate you in anyway or anything that you would consider safe. So in other words you desperately wanted to find somewhere that was safe to you, but you felt as if someone was trying to cause harm. Do you normally have issues in regards to trust? If the wolf didn't attack that symbolizes loneliness.
Snow can mean many things. It can represent unexpressed emotions that you have had for some time, and as you know water in dreams represents emotions... snow and ice is frozen water. You may have some old emotions that you are afraid to express. But snow can also represent innocence and peace. But the way your dream sounded, you were not feeling at peace.. until you felt completely safe. Did the snow appear AFTER the guy with the knife was chased away? Or was it that way the whole time?

the snow was more frozen and barren when the guy with the knife was there. At the point with the wolf, the snow had a more calming feel to it, I could describe the thing with the wolf as if the wolf and I were in a trance and had a mutual understanding of each other, and a point of... wow I don't really know how to describe the feeling, but it was almost like a divine knowledge had been given to me and bewilderment over that, and almost like an epiphany, but without the actual realizing of anything other than the mutual understanding between the wolf and I.

Are you more content when you are alone? Do you feel more safe alone?

I don't necessarily feel more content when alone, but I certainly feel safer. I guess that would come to the idea of a comfort zone.
I'm gonna go ahead and put up one I had last night........ More of a nightmare than a dream.........
I was at home, and my dad was going to take us all to a water park when we got more work done around the house. I walk into the garage just to see my brother being attacked by thousands of bees (and I am horribly phobic of stinging insects). I shut the door and panic a bit, tell my dad, and he say "oh well, guess he won't be coming" or something along those lines. I walk out into the back yard, and I work for a bit. Then I notice several bee hives being made on the ground, and start spraying them with water and nothing happens. My sister opens one up, and I see a few bees inside. A few of them chase me back into the house. I go in through the garage, which now has 2 massive hives. I tell my dad he needs to get rid of the hives, and he shrugs it off saying that it isn't a high priority thing right now. Later we are sitting down in the garage, although I am intensly uncomfortable with the 2 massive hives, and we get ready to go. My brother then takes a small hive about the size of my head, and slams it onto my hand impaling the hive. Non of the bees atack me, they all sortof just leave the hive... And at that point I wake up because I can't bare anymore of it.

Hmm thats interesting. A water park suggests that any kind of emotion being involved. And the funny thing is when you dream of bees, it actually has a positive meaning to it. But you are afraid of bees... and they stung your brother right? It may mean that your brother may be end up hurt by someone who he thought was friendly.. lets see if that ends up happening. It could also mean that your brother is not taking advantage of a gift that he has and because of that.. in the long run he will be hurt. Because if bees sting in a dream, it means that you will be hurt by someone who you had trusted, or let something good go to waste.
But if you dream of a beehive, it actually can.. believe it or not signify fortune of some kind is on the way. And since you dreamed of 2 of them, 2 means intuition or 2 also means battling your logical and intuitive side. You may actually have something good coming your way and you deep down may know this but you are afraid to believe it.. and thats interesting about your brother taking a hive and slamming it into you, and more importantly that you didn't get stung. This suggests to me that he is jealous of you and feels that you are better off than he is. And a garage symbolizes parked cars.. even if there were no cars in the garage, cars signify change and development and if its parked (or even just seeing a garage) means you are perhaps taking a break from moving forward right now.

I guess I should have specified int the back yard there were 3 small beehives, and in the garage, 2 massive massive beehives roughly the size of a full sized fridge, though the one closer to the door of the front of the garage was smaller. It was not obvious that the room was a garage, simply that the room resembled my garage in every way, but I couldn't see the garage doors the direction I was looking.
EDIT: I should also specifiy that the beehive he slammed on my hand belonged to him, and the only sibling that was not in the dream was my sister that left to go live with her mom. (yeah she's my mom too, but only by blood)
I also had a dream a long time ago as a kid that would make a good old school horror... I dont remember very much now, other than I was in a house where all the walls were so covered in wasps that you couldn't see any opf the paint of the wasps, and I believe I was being consumed by a swarm of them crawling all over me... They did not have any yellow to them, but were black and grey, but very obviously wasps.

Sorry to see your struggle old soul. But there's no need feeling worthless. I spent a whole year getting back on my feet, when I burned out in 1999/2000. It was hard, but the summer 2001 I got a new job and took an education as well. So now I'm a skilled carpenter with papers and all. But for a whole year, I was down and out. We have to believe just a little in ourself, and sometimes take all the help we can get. Another time It's maybe you who can lend a helping hand. Sure you won't feel like this forever, you will rise again, maybe not in a grand way, but little by little. You have to see a doc, cause I'm quite sure you got a depression.
It was an interresting dream, I'm not so good to read dreams, but it's said that dreams are the way the mind deal with the problems we have in real life. This means that you often can find solutions to problems in a dream, but most of the time, the mind just kind of digest impressions to put them to rest for ever.
I also have an ongoing dream, must have something to do with me moving to a different part of the country. I sometimes miss the place I left in 1999. Well, the dream; I'm back in my old home, and from a garage I fetch the very first car I had, an old Mazda. So I'm cruising around with false numberplates, knowing I can get caught anytime, but I drive on. Usually it ends in the garden of my old home, and the garden is full of delicious ripe fruits of all kinds. When I'm trying to taste them, some obscure person says I can't and chase me away. That's usually when I wake up. Not exactly a nightmare, but it's quite exhausting in a way. This dream returns at least once a month.
When I was young I used to have nightmares and sleep paralyze, but rarely in the last twenty years. I know it's not a good feeling. I sincerely hope your condition will be better soon. Things can make a turn for the better sooner than you know.

Dreams have significance to them, and are full of symbols and messages. Seems like those dreams mean that there are good things you are striving for but our own inner insecurities tell us that we are not good enough and worth it to strive for those beautiful things.. like the drive for us is there to attain our goals but the dark force within us tries to stop us. That produces anxieties and fears whenever we attempt to make a move... and when you have a dream of being chased away, that is what it represnets... our fears are literally chasing us away from the things we desire.

Thats good, I don't experience sleep paralysis anymore because of a technique that I use to ward off the hag Even though sometimes you cannot prevent a scary dream from happening (as they sometimes give important messages), there is a lot you can control when it comes to this stuff.
