Some of the latest "fake sugars" (Primarily "sugar alcohols, from what I understand) and "engineered fats"(like olestra) have a laxative effect. They sometimes DO have warnings to that effect. Coffee has a number of things besides caffiene as well.

I had a lot of stomach/intestinal issues as a child, but seem to have grown out of them, for the most part.

OOOOOH!! ! PICK ME!! ! I've always had digestive problems.

My metabolism has been off the charts (high) for the past 4 years or so. I can eat a huge 5 course dinner, and be starving in an hour. Never gain a pound.

Eating/Drinking hot and cold beverages within a short time apart from eachother can cause a real ruckus down their (poop/diarrhea).

Caffeiene can cause problems, albeit rarely.

I've also been getting heartburn lately, which I've never gotten before.

Most of all, I'm scared to poop.

I always get acid reflux and IBS. I have to take certain vitamins, drink water and exercise just to keep regular. Tea is good for that too. I didn't want to be too graphic there, lol.
I get a lot of stomach problems too like bloating. I never add salt to anything, because it's in most food.
I eat pretty damn healthy too. I stick to the food pyramid lol.
I just thought I was a weakling. I'm kind of relieved that is has to do with ASD.

The stomach isn't the intestines, of course.

I was just trying to think of a nice way of saying:
diarreah, bloating, gas, heartburn, etc.....
the best I could come up with is stomache trouble trouble.

But anyway, I didn't mean that I think the problem is my intestines, just that that's what my mom says, but I dont feel sick to my intestines, I feel sick to my stomache ;p

I have been very sick since I started taking 3-6-9 omega 3 oil, I had to take myself off them, I feel like I had stomach flu.

msinglynx:

Have you checked for celiac disease? Or other food intolerances/allergies?

I myself am a celiac, and I also have trouble with dairy. Back in the "dark ages"- before I knew- it seemed like almost anything made me feel sick. Now that I am on the gluten free diet, many of the foods that I used to think made me sick- like apples, for instance- I can tolerate. I guess it was just the effects of the gluten in my system, which would be exacerbated by certain foods. That "plain bread" may be what´s actually making you sick. Anyway, it´s probably best to check it out....

hmm, I could get checked I guess, but I almost never buy bread. I usually eat a lot of vegetables and meat sometimes, also fruits and some prepackaged crap when I dont want to cook. I haven't had bread in about 2 weeks (been making chicken soups, chili, stew, lots of veggies, etc.) but I still get sick. The other night I ate potatoes & cheese and some green tea and I still got sick. I really does seem to be everything, tho it gets a bit better when I can do a full vegetarian diet, I just cant usually afford it.

I suffer from constapation/diahrea but then I have a very poor diet due to foot sensitivity, I mainly eat dry foods so how much is related to that or intenstinal issues, I was diagnosed with IBS but believe it to be a misdiagnosis since the main reason I was diagnosed was due to pains I was recieving, after being diagnoses with kidney disease I realise that, that was the cause of the pain.

Acid reflux and IBS here too, the latter linked to a hypersensitivity to lactose and fructose (but not gluten).

They used to punish prisoners by putting them on a diet of bread and water, but if I had to choose just one food and one drink, that is what I would pick.

I think it´s a good idea to get checked for any kind of allergy; it could be that you don´t have a problem with gluten, but maybe with something else. This is apparently common with people on the spectrum. The 2 most common allergens are gluten and dairy- hence the gfcf diet- but there are many other possible food allergies, too. You may even have more than 1. If you know what foods to avoid, it will make your life much easier!

As a child i suffered from chronic stomach problems, cramps, and constipation and bouts of diarrohea.
It wasnt untill i was diagnosed with AS that I also discovered I have quite a few complex food allergies.
I am now on a strict diet which has more or less cured my stomach and constipation issues thankfully

I would get checked out as I am guessing if you are allergic to kiwi, which I am too, you will also be allergic to other foods which will be causing your stomach problems.
