I thought it interesting when questioned : "Do dogs tend to bite you?"

Animals tend to like me, and once we get aquainted, we take to each other pretty well, but I remember several times as a child and as an adult getting bit by dogs with no warning, no growling, no messing with their food while they are trying to eat, no defensive situation. Just up and bit me.

I suppose it is my facial expression or my body language. I mean a dogs whole lives depend on judging their human by these clues.

I don't remember that question at all .... I wonder if the test might be dynamic in wht it asks?

Some of the questions are to determine your honesty during the test and some more are for their study topics, so I suppose it makes sense for those two categories to vary.

I don't remember that question about dogs biting, either, and I am sure I would remember it because I would have answered yes. I don't like animals, and they don't like me. Dogs will initially approach me, but then go away, which is fine with me because I can't stand their sniffing and their wet noses. My mother always had a dog in the house and one, especially, would always bite me and no one else in the house.

What is this quiz? Is it a bonafide quiz; why do they want to know about my ancestry? I´m just worried (maybe overly so) about giving information about myself on the internet. Does anyone know who is the receiver of this information? I would be interested in doing it, though...

I did an AQ test, but that was sent to me personally by the National Autistic Society of London. So I felt okay.

Now, see, I would have a huge problem with a question like: "do dogs tend to bite you?" The answer is, well, yes- when I was a kid, I was afraid of dogs because they bit me quite often...but also, well, no, because I haven´t been bitten by a dog in a really long time now. So how do I answer the question? And does this mean that I am "less autistic" as an adult because dogs don´t bite me, or is it just that I am not around dogs that much?

I find these tests, generally, kind of hard. Sometimes the answers aren´t that clear to me, because the questions can be sort of vague, with no black or white answers...

^That may have been a "filler" question. I believe I read of this test, or possibly another online test that had random questions that had nothing to do with autism put into the test for some reason. Not sure though, rdos should know.

It ain't going to tell you if you lack appropriate two-way social interaction, nor if your all-encompassing interest is disabling for you, but it is a piece of the puzzle.

It, and all tests, are poor tools when used by themselves to diagnose someone.

For example, I'm Schizophrenic according to official questionaries; I was evaluated for such, and it was determined that I don't have it by professionals who diagnose these conditions.

I'm not quite sure. I took an earlier version of this test and recently I took it on the members only. I feel the newer is more accurate, since I got a lower score. I scored 130. Think that's quite right, regarding to how I manage in life.
I felt, however that it was a bit difficult to decide 1 or 2 some places, but I think I got it right. Also, I'm not an english professor so I had to leave open the one about procrastinate, since I didn't know the word. Now I do.

This question has never been part of Aspie-quiz AFAIK. Must have been from some other quiz.

i have a vague suspicion the dog-biting question might be on one of baron-cohn's many tests??? can anyone confirm??

as for the aspie quiz --- i perceive it as the most thorough online quiz around. ONLINE, that is. it's a quiz. But it seems excellent.

This question seems never to have been on the Aspie Quiz. It's never been on any of Baron-Cohen's quizzes either.

The only place I've seen it is here.

Do Dogs tend to bite you?

That question isn't on the RDOS test... but having a think about it... it might be asking how annoying you are.

My kids won't leave dogs alone, they always cuddle, smother etc... the dogs to the point where the dog snaps.

My brother in law and his dog are staying with us at the moment and until a couple of days ago, his dog had never bitten anyone. Now my youngest has a bite mark on his nose (only a little one). He deserved it because he was putting his face right on the dog's face and squishing it.

When I was little, I was bitten on the face by a sheepdog.

I was chasing it around saying BAA!! ! to it... so I deserved it too.

Well, when I was bit by dogs, I wasn´t being irritating at all! I was just minding my own business.

And- they never bit my brother, just me.

My experience, also.

Right, they say some of the questions are just in there to determine your truthfulness (thank you spell check!), did not realize they were dynamic though.

I don´t get it...if you lie about being bitten by dogs, how will they know??? :?:

I think I´d like to do this test sometime, but I guess I need a lot of time for it- (it has what- 200 questions or something?)...

2 strong possibilities:

1) A statistically large percentage of ppl answer one way. Sort of if ou say 'name a colo' a lot of people will say red.

2) A check against other questions that would show you to be the type of person a dog would bite.

If they asked a question about cats it would be interesting though. I tend to be the one that hears 'but my cat NEVER goes up and greets people she does not know'.
