A couple of times I bought vitamin packs from 7/11. They looked healthy enough with several vitamins inside instead of everything in one pill, so I took all the vitamin pills together, with some water. I got so unbelievably sleepy after taking them. I tried it one more time and felt so weird afterward I couldn't take them again. I don't know what the deal was with them. Too strong?
Bea, thanks for reminding me. I want to get back on TwinLab and the vitamin issue hasn't been in the front of my mind. I am going to get a bottle of multi vitamins from Twin Lab and start a new regiment.

Remember to get Evening Primrose. It's high in linoleic acid (I think) which has
a beneficial effect on brain activity. I read a book once by a woman physician
whose son was severly brain-injured in a fall from playground equipment. Nothing
seemed to help him until she put him on a special diet high in linoleic acid, then he
progressed rapidly back to almost normal. (But watch your doses, I don't know if
this stuff can build up to toxic levels.)

I think it's also possible that those type of symptoms are due to problems with GABA regulation.

I think it's possible to obtain GABA suppliments but there's the danger that it could be habit forming if taken for too long.

I wonder why you got sleepy after taking the viamin pack? Could it be this was a formula to
fight colds and flu and included an antihistimine? That will make you sleepy. Sometimes I'll
take a spoonful of children's Benadryl just because it helps me get to sleep.

I've had strange effects with various vitamins. B-12 made me irritable. I tried St John's Wort and was OK with it at first. The quality of the capsules content's changed and the effect wasn't as good. The quality of the product was inconsistent, so I stopped buying, fearing the old snake oil. I think it was a TwinLab subsidiary (can't recall the name) that manufactured herbal remedies exclusively.
I got them thru Swanson, that vitamin mail order company in the Dakotas.
I wonder if anyone else on WP has ever taken the vitamin pack from 7/11 at once and gotten really sleepy and felt strange? I felt so weird I questioned if they were toxic (when taken all at once) and poisoning my system. If I take them again, I won't take them all at once, since there are several in the pack. I will try taking them a few hours apart, only two at a time.

Marshall, the info on GABA was very interesting. I followed the related link to glutamate and read that
this substance has been associated with autism and epilepsy. And it's found everywhere (soy sauce,
high protein animal and plant foods) . I stay away from soy sauce since that usually also has wheat
starch added, but I'm wondering if glutamate could be a trigger for some symptoms.

Lately, I have been feeling stupid, even though I know I'm not. I can't seem to do simple things, even though I do well at my job and complete several different crosswords and word puzzles per day.
