yeah I'm quite curious about what are these rules that you're talking about as well :p I think I just go with the flow.

One on one topic

I like to send/receive pms. sometimes I get resposnes, and sometimes not. I try to be polite, logical and relevant to the issue. :)

example of social rules: "ask questions to show interest"

you mean interest that is not genuine...?

I actually try to hold most of my questions back because I don't want to be rude.

I have had a few PM's from others, and actually have made a couple of friends who write now and then, and vice versa. I actually have PMed a couple of persons, to comment on their website, and sometimes got a nice answer back. All in all I have good experiences in this field. I often feel who I can communicate with, or not. Although I'm not so very social, I like to learn a little about ppl. But, I'm concerned about intruding or to force myself onto ppl. So I'm not the person most likely to PM anyone, allthough I find it very flattering if someone PMs me :D

I've done that but some people get annoyed with my constant questioning and get unfriendly with me. Okay so now I am shy again to talk to people.

I just don't know who would mind my questions and who wouldn't mind them. How are we supposed to have social conversations if we get crap back in return. Get told "Why?" "Why so many questions" "None of your business."

I have PMed a few people,

It seems to have worked out OK, one of the reasons I use PM is that I know that a person is more likely to see their inbox than text in a thread.

I also regard a PM as an electronic version of a letter, in todays IT age the old fashioned letter still has its place. I say that the way we communicate does differ according to who we are trying to communicate with.

I guess that when a man (AS or NT) writes to his wife or girlfriend that the style of communication is very different to a person requesting a box of fruit to be delivered, or a person writing a job application. So I do think that people will change their written style according to who they are writing to.
