Yeah, I have obsessions with plane crashes and the holocaust. I can see why I'm obsessed with plane crashes because my Dad was in the twin towers when they got hit (he survived though) and it's only since then that I've been obsessed with them. Have no idea why I'm obsessed with the holocaust though. Other people think I'm really wierd for liking such depressing subjects so I try to keep it to myself as much as possible.

I'm not sure whether I like depressing topics per se, but I'm often interested in topics that are just deemed inappropriate to talk about for one reason or another.

Always been interested in WWII, mainly because my father served. But I guess that's OK for us ASpic guys. The Missus enjoys movies about the Holoucast. We're quite the pair.

I'm interested in NSDAP Germany in general and particularly in Hitler himself. Mainly because it's an ongoing puzzle why someone who was fundamentally a highly intelligent man became so twisted and made such poor decisions.

Yeah, pretty much - in fiction, I've always liked the most sad, screwed up characters who just needed a hug. In general, I've just liked dark stories - not always ones that end sadly, but usually ones that have plenty of screwed up crap going down in them.

I also interest and follow stories on abuse of kids and the disabled (like at the JRC), though at least I can justify that, as I'm going to law school to become an advocate to stop things like that from happening.

Yes, most of the fiction I write is about "difficult" topics, really. I'm writing a series of books about a 13-year-old girl and her friends, and on the face of it it's supposed to be quite funny, but when you think about it you can see she has a really hard life and all the laughter and bravado is her defense mechanism. Like me in year 8.

I'm interested in some kinds of disasters like earthquakes but I don't like how it kills people. My cute bird always wants the world to end and when I tell him its not ending, he cries. He also cries when I tell him that he's not God. How cute. When a disaster happens, the first thing I think of is my cute thing named Tiny. Sometimes when he goes to the vet, things happen. Or on my family's birthdays, he gives us a "present" in the form of a disaster. I don't think you can get cuter than that. He shows off a lot when evil happens in the world or is about to happen. How does he know? I have no clue. He just sits there and looks cute, I think the world can't handle his cuteness.

I tend to be interested in macabre things, like I would rather read about the wars going on, attacks, etc. I also am into Ghost Hunters (Sci Fi channel) and all kinds of paranormal stuff.

I used to be totally into Law and Order: SVU, and would watch episodes back to back for hours. I was kind of depressed at that time (not from watching the show). I don't watch much TV anymore because now that I know I'm an Aspie, much of the depression has lifted and I have a lot of energy for projects that interest me.

I read somewhere that Aspies get interested in macabre subjects because it's a way of connecting with people who were also victimized and who suffered at the hands of a world they couldn't control. It's a way of expressing how profound the loneliness and alienation can be. I watched SVU during a period of extreme alienation and loneliness, and I think it really helped me to not feel alone. That, and in my next life, I want to look like Mariska Hargitay.
