But it's on the same time as a show
my older NT sister likes and she always wins!

I think that's exactly what HAS happened.

Go and watch it at Grandma's house.
(I've been trying to get the kids to think of something they can do with
Grandma. They got older and moved on, and now she misses them.)
Or think of someone else who might consider watching it.

Wow, that's some big talk.

Have you ever been interrogated by an expert?

yes. Several times, what is it to you?

I was once interrogated because some kid spread rumors about me in highschool and the principal thought I was a threat to the school based on what those rumors were about... I know I am misunderstood most of the times, but come on, I am more harmless than a kitten!

What does this mean, to knock something into a cocked hat?

(from Obsolete Word of the Day website)

to be knocked into a cocked hat

This means to be routed completely in a physical or verbal contest.

The expression comes from the practice of military officers to carry their soft hats under the arm, thus flattening it out. The hats became triangular shaped when flattened. So, when someone was crushed in a contest, they were flattened as completely as an officer's cocked hat.

I watched an episode of"lie to me". I would like to say something about it from my perspective. In the episode that I watched, it was stated that when a person makes a statement, and then touches their face or their neck, that is considerd to be a sign they are lieing. I will touch my face or sometimes even cover my face, out of nervousness even after I have said something that is true. As I watch this show I think I will see other signs of lieing I bet I do just out of nervousness.

Eegads..I do the same thing..I will often rub my face or my neck when I am talking..it is one of my stims....and I am not lying when I am doing it.

It would stink to have some expert think that you are lying when you are telling the truth just because you have certain odd habits that he associates with people who are lying.

I have not seen the show, but it has sparked my curiosity, and I have wondered how AS would come into play on the show, since the same rules may not apply for people with AS.

This reminds me a little bit:
Recently somebody posted a comment on my dumb Youtube video where I attempt to talk about having AS and ADD symptoms..and they said that they only watched 20 seconds of the video and could tell that I was acting. I was not acting...but I wonder what it was that they saw that made them think that I was.....Possibly because I touch my hair at the beginning of the video?

Is this show gonna cause a rash of people judging other people by their body language ?
yeek.

it sure opens my eyes to taunts of "you're FAKE" you are so "FAKE" when my sincere and earnest heart is pierced to the root. . .

A real expert in body language and facial reading would be able to tell that you certain conditions, mannerisms or characteristics that might be mistaken for deception. There really are people this good at 'reading' other people. They are mostly used by big shot lawyers, politicians and crooks and not cops.

I would think that those on the autism spectrum would be tougher to spot by the body language experts than most NTs, largely because of the tendency for aspie nervousness when being talked to. The really good experts would, of course, not get false positives from this behavior since it's the changes that matter, not the behavior itself.

With me it's very easy to tell when I'm telling the truth: I'm talking. I learned in high school that I'm pretty much incapable of telling a credible lie, so I just stopped doing it.

I get very nervous if I try to fib. I'm not very good at it.

I watch that show religiously every week as sort of a DBT for me for when I'm dealing with NTs. I've noticed that my eye contact has improved and my relationship with my GF has gotten significantly better because I can read her facial expressions more. (Of course, I sometimes say inappropriate things, there's no tv show on body language that can stop the inappropriate moments or the sensitivity to noise, but I can cope!) I also figured out that I have a real keen eye for "microexpressions" , which are expressions that our faces naturally make for a split second that we cannot stop.

For the past few weeks, I've been looking at facial expression charts to determine if somebody's lying or if they're simply talking out of their nose. So far, it's worked well. How I USED to determine if people were lying or talking out of their noses was when I asked them difficult questions and if they sounded illogical, I knew not to deal with them. That's how most aspies I know determine lie detection, is through logic and trick questions rather than facial expressions.

Logic is also a very strong form of torture if applied right. People when facing logic that exploits their own flaws will squirm inside looking for an escape, and when one is offered they will jump on it to free themselves. That is the key to winning any argument regardless of what it is about.

I snorted out loud when I first saw the ads for this show on tv (they make it sound like they can catch anyone in a lie) as they obviously didn't do their homework when thinking the shows concept up. This theory of lying or not just doesn't work with people on the spectrum, the percentage of the population on the spectrum is pretty large. Didn't they at least google facial expressions beforehand??
