Guys, socialization is SOOOOOO overrated. What you find out over time is you're pretty much smarter & better equipped to handle life than most of your friends...so then you wonder how other folks got so lucky with their friends...only to find out that the people your refer to are basically on the LEVEL of their friends. They'll criticize YOUR stupid/loser friends about all their flaws...and then when you get more dirt on them, they're basically the same when it comes to it.

My best friend, for instance, fell from grace for me last year when he accused me of hitting on his gal..and I'm two states away from him, have a girlfriend of my own, would NEVER be so unloyal to him....and simply Facebook'd his gal ONCE...and the message was about HIM.

That's why I once said I feel like no one really gets me, and to quote Green Day "I walk alone".

Yes. My social skills arent too bad after working on them for 3 years... but I have a pretty strange manner and some weird behaviours which put people off. I just dont want to be around people any more because I cant stand them looking at me like I have crawled out from under a rock.

I wish I could overcome all this. I dont think I will ever really be the average person though. I am just too far apart from them. Different mind, different life.

You don't want to be the average person dude. The thought of being the average person is utter torture. I might even consider it a fate worse than death. Well, not really, but I still don't want to be the average person.

Have I become quite a bit arrogant over time, due to what I've learned about others and myself? I don't even question it. Do I feel bad about having become arrogant? NOT A CHANCE!

Yes, definitely. :chin: I would like to improve every area, in which I'm lacking. :)

I assure you- you aren't lacking. You've just been led to believe that you are.

Not right now. I'm enjoying doing research and learning new things everyday. If I were hanging out with friends I wouldn't learn as much, well not the kind of things I want to learn. People just talk about themselves and other people they know. They may ask some questions or comment on the news. I'm much happier reading and learning more things than struggling with my words and trying to follow a conversation. There's a lot less pressure on me.

But hey, I could be thinking the opposite tomorrow.

Inasmuch as it would be so cool to find people who finally get me and all that, I don't hold out a lot of hope for that, and to be honest, somehow I get more out of doing research, listening to music, and watching sitcom reruns.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.(really) :) I don't want to sound condescending, but, I have done thousands of hours of self-analysis, and know there are areas where I could benefit from improvement. I don't mind though, it gives me reason to live. I need goals. :chin:

I never said there weren't areas we could improve in....I just think for Aspies, most of those areas are not to be wasted on where NTs prosper, but where they screw up so much.

Why do you think I run my own business, am busy trying to get it off the ground, so I can be really rich and successful?

"But Russell, not all NTs screw that up!", you might say! And not all NTs are great socializers, either. But they sure screw up in the world of business a LOT!

Big tip- hit that goal first, and NTs will totally kiss your @$$, whether you can socialize well or not. Need proof? Look at George W. Bush, John McCain, and Barack Obama!! !! !! !

Just my own personal recommendation: keep it there. Focus on your business. When you start blowing everyone away at that, NTs will flock to you like crazy, and adore you regardless of whether you sound as smooth as Reagan, or as stumbling as Bush :)

I thought I did, but after building up a network of acquaintances I learned it wasn't all I thought it would be. I ended up not liking the majority of the people I met and found the drama that comes from having a bunch of friends not worth it. I'm more content with having less than a handful of friends that I can actually trust and enjoy their company. It turned out to be one of those "be careful what you wish for" things that I quickly remedied.
