I'v always had learning - taking things in/attention/always on defensive/never being able to explain what I did because it never made sense to me either/hyperactive problems, always treaded diferently and not knowing why, pure frustrating, then read about aspergers and things started to make sense, then read about ADHD, I was reading about my life! plus talking to people with it, they totaly made sense to me, thank god.

I know people who thrive on it and dont need a dx or meds/help, and others who have treid meds but prefer manage it themselves, not wanting meds. For others like myself I need help, and theres diferent meds so its just finding what works and the correct dosage.

Those I know with ADHD or ADD, dont do sympathy! (hate that word!! !) we just want to be able to live and get on with what we want/enjoy, even making it work for us!! !

I knew there was something wrong because I couldn't see one task through to completion and was threatened with losing my job if my numbers didn't triple. Through therapy we discovered the problem and saved my job. :)

My mom and brother both have ADD, and my mom (who's a psychologist) has always said she thinks I have it too. I've read quite a bit about it, and a lot of the symptoms seem to fit me: I have problems paying attention to people who are talking to me, it takes me ages to do things like homework because of concentration difficulties, I get bursts of energy during which I end up pacing endlessly, I'm disorganized, I hyperfocus, I'm late everywhere, I procrastinate, etc. I never pursued a diagnosis, but I came to a decision about a year and a half ago that I would try to develop more self-discipline in these areas of difficulty, and that if I gave my honest best effort and couldn't overcome them I would get evaluated. At the end of this past semester I decided to get evaluated over the summer, and I'm going to do so in mid-August.

Now I'm just afraid that I'll end up finding out that I don't have ADD, and that my inability to focus/time management issues will just be due to innate laziness or something. I've never done badly in school, but I feel like these issues keep me from performing as well as I can in life. It's extremely frustrating.
