Do you remember EVERYTHING? - usually, but only if I'm sober

What's your first memory?
- chasing the little white dog that lived across the road at the neighbours house, and constantly being told off for that (I didn't care about the cars and almost got hit several times); I was 2

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly? - details; faces; who said what to whom; people's accents and mannierisms; details, above all

Are there certain things you just cannot remember? - numbers; I never remember film and book endings- I remember the plot really well but somehow the endings never get clocked in my head properly. I can re-read and re-watch my favs several times thanks to that.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
useful? facts I remember from Kitchen Chemistry-

Which ones are the most useless? most of my special interests because although they bring loads of joy to my life they really have no use to anyone else... and no one is ever interested

What's your happiest memory? hitch-hiking in Austria with one other equally crazy friend

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)? <skips>

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering? - mostly the former, smells and songs can trigger more emotional memories

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
yeah big time

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
more photographic

Discuss! What's your memory like?
It used to be amazing, but got worse with age (and the amount of booze I drank on social occasions in order to feel more relaxed). I've been off drinking now and it's been getting better again.

I also have a massive memory gap due to PTSD, basically I remember the event clearly but most of my childhood memories are gone, apart from the very early ones. my psych says it will all "come back" one day, but I doubt it

Do you remember EVERYTHING?

Well, I could easily recite the general layout of the day, and I can remember whole conversations I've had on MSN, and most of the time verbally on MSN. I'm never the person saying 'How did we get onto this again?', but I don't remember some things, like nothing in my French class.

What's your first memory?

I don't know. I always think it was me lying on my bed and my parents both waking me up, but IDK if that was even real...

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?

Conversations on MSN, articles I've read, etc...

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?

Phone numbers quickly. I can remember ones I've rehearsed for ages for years. My passwords use to be my first phone number- I stopped though because it was clearly flawed.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?

Religion ones, probably. I know all the stats for all the religions.

Which ones are the most useless?

Most, they're just useful in conversation. I tend to just find them out when I'm trying to work out something for the point of it, like 60% of marriages in the UK are successful or the average UK person uses 150 liters of water a day, etc.

What's your happiest memory?

I honestly can't recall one. Not like I've had a sad life, I just can't find one worthy of being named as my happiest.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?

Just stuff at funerals. I hate funerals.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?

Probably re-living, I find my self sometimes actually doing the actions for a few seconds, like out of reality.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?

I've never had a full melt-down I don't think. Just been mad. But no.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

Somewhat. I can remember certain events bit by bit, somethings I only have a really vivid memory of a couple of things(after a certain time[a month, maybe 2 months] I can only remember one message of an MSN conversation, or only a few lines of an article, and have to read a paragraph or so to notice I've already read it[I like to read LOTS of articles on the same thing, after a while I'm re-reading articles from the same Google search]).

My memory is image/video based so I can remember details of things that I see but I can't remember other things like stuff I'm meant to do for example.

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
I wouldn't say everything, but definitely more than the average person.

What's your first memory?
Either sitting in the high chair or the fire ant incident when I was 18 months old. That one, I remember extremely clearly.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Anything out of the ordinary. Like if something really special happned that day.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
Math and how to do it. I suck at math.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
Directions inside of big buildings, like schools, malls, or offices. Once I've been there, I remember where everything is clearly. In fact, (this is totally true, I've done it), I can go to twenty very similar houses in a single day and go back to one of them a whole year later, and remember everything about it.

Which ones are the most useless?
The ones of me just sitting in class, bored to death.

What's your happiest memory?
This is a tough one. But I'd have to say last summer at Kings Dominion with my boyfriend when we were at the waterpark part of it. I play back that memory over and over in my head.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
Walking down the stairs and seeing a huge pile of blood all over the couch and carpet from my puppy.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
It really depends on the memory. I guess I'd say it's usually like watching a movie though.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Depends on the situation. When it comes to intense arguements, no. When it came from being bullied, yes.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Very photographic.

Do you remember EVERYTHING? - I remember the things that matter to my life right now and some long term memory events.

What's your first memory? - Getting tonsils removed at 3 years old.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly? - My elementary school days.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember? - Short term things I don't care about. I forget people I don't know, I forget how to do math.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful? Not sure

Which ones are the most useless? Anything past general math.

What's your happiest memory? Graduating high school.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)? 9/11

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering? -Sometimes I gain memories from the old days by either a movie or a song I heard in my younger days.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
No because it's water under the bridge. There's no point in dwelling about the past.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile? I wish it was photographic, boy do I wish it was. My memories of events many years ago are visible blurs.

Quote:
Do you remember EVERYTHING?
Absolutely not. There are significant gaps in my memory, and I don't like it.
Quote:
What's your first memory?
When I was three years old, and had just moved to Florida. We were living in a condominium until our house was built. I vaguely remember the layout and general ambiance of that place.
Quote:
What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Countless times of being outside, in nature. Everything is more vibrant to me outdoors.
Quote:
Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
Much of my childhood. There are entire years I cannot really account for, and the memories that I do have are often blurred, partially incorrect, or very narrow: context-reduced.
Quote:
If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
Oh, I remember facts. Endless volumes of historical, geographical, botanical, taxonomic, scientific facts. They are all very useful and interesting to me.
Quote:
Which ones are the most useless?
Mundane environmental observations, like the wallpaper in my room when I was five years old... primary-colored parallel vertical stripes.
Quote:
What's your happiest memory?
Being in nature. There are a few specific times I am thinking of, where I was out by myself in a Nature Preserve, walking some trails, and just.... gazing at the sky and the trees, elevated, transcended, blissed-out, humming with energy, amazed, utterly transported...
Quote:
Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
The complete breakdown I experienced last year, where I utterly failed at my job, was subsequently disciplined and eventually let go. It was a terrible situation, it wrecked my home life, and did much to destroy my professional life. I have a really hard time thinking about it. Certain specific memories about it will sometimes pop up and just horrify me...
Quote:
Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
I often experience the present moment as if I am watching a movie. So my memories are much the same.
Quote:
If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Yes, that happens sometimes if I begin to fixate on the memory, and get lost in it.
Quote:
Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Both. They seem to be isolated based on the original experience. If the memory is of my visit to the Grand Canyon, it is very visual. If the memory is of me digging in the garden, then it is mostly tactile. I guess that is probably normal.
Quote:
Discuss! What's your memory like?
Not great. It's very mixed up. Like I said, there are big gaps, especially in my childhood. I also have a tendency to invent memories. Something of a conglomeration of actual memories, I've been called on this by lots of people, when I will relate some memory, and they're like, "ummmm, that NEVER HAPPENED..." I think that my memory would be at least a little better if I got more sleep.

Good questions.

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
Long term memory is very good but my short term memory gets a bit muddled sometimes

What's your first memory?
Lying in my cot and thinking to myself I should lie still so people who came to visit would not pick me up

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Things that hurt me emotionally and people's faces

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
I have to write dates down for appointments and my short term memory is quite bad, sometimes I forget things people told me the day before.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
Telephone numbers and postcodes.

Which ones are the most useless?
What people are wearing

What's your happiest memory?
My holiday to Florida

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
Having to move to another town

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
I see memories like coloured pictures or a video, so yes in a way like a movie.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
No

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
I see pictures

Discuss! What's your memory like?
I have a really good memory long term, and remember things people tell me if they are of emotional value. Sometimes it can be annoying to the other person as I can literally tell them what they said.
