Maybe that is another reason Roger Bannister fascinates me. He was a physician, specializing in neurology.

I am obsessed with health, in general. My medicine cabinet consists of vitamins, herbal teas, and homeopathic remedies. I don't like to take aspirin unless the pain is unbearable. I actually like buying little tinctures... I love the word "tincture".

I'm not sure I'm obsessed with it, just interested. I feel I need to be, considering myself and my whole family are very unhealthy people. I find just about everything interesting, so this is no exception. I love to master knowledge of everything I can, and biology just happens to hit close to home in terms of, well, obviousness, and importance.

I've always been fascinated with medicine. My mother's works in mental health, so there were always general and Psychiatric nursing textbooks laying around the house.

I decided I wanted to be a Pathologist when I was eight, loving Biology and Anatomy so much, but once I got to highschool none of the careers advisor decided I was just being morbid or weird and payed my notations no attention. :?

These days some of my special interests revolve more around Neurology, Psychology and Psychiatry.

The diagnostic part of medicine would interest me, as would the satisfaction in solving others' problems.

I must admit a big part of it for me too is the diagnostic element. I am that way with any life problems and analyse everything; if something goes wrong with the car I'm grabbing a Haynes manual, googling the problem (or second guessing through a mental process of elminiation) and find the whole diagnostic process immensely fascinating. If there's a problem with the computer, I have to analyse what it could be and why. I just love analysing and going through any process of elimination and diagnostics in all walks of life. But medicine has always been the most natural subject for diagnosis in my mind.

I am so pleased to see your comments and to know that I am not alone or some sort of weirdo. I have a big hunger for information about medical problems.

Venus.

I suppose so, more than just watching House (and trying to diagnose before him) did Neuroscience, and now pharmacology masters ....so literally "medicines" are my interest. I love finding out about wierd and bizarre syndromes as well (which is a sick hobby to have  )

I might have an extra set of ribs. I'm not sure (although I could probably find some old X-rays and look), but I know my mother does.

My very AS father had extra set of cervical ribs- they were thought to be the cause of his strange migraines with tunnel vision. I don't think I have inherited extra ribs but I do get the migraines (which can be inherited, Familial Hemiplegic Migraine).
