i was really interested in the point you raised about people maintaining it is "cool" to have AS.
i am dx'ed by AS specialists. And sometimes i query how many people are actually AS who post on WP. it seems like it is a "cool" forum to post on - or that some people decide they want to be AS or might be AS because they are not social. there's a lot more to it than that.
And it is not fun stimming in public or having to flinch and stretch your shoulders with people wondering "why the heck does she ALWAYS twist around like a tourettes girl?"

not everyone stims a lot. that is not my point.

My point is that it is a complex and often sad diagnosis that separates me from being able to connect with others easily and fully. it's not a flavour of the month and it is part of me. i cannot just decide NOT TO BE, one day.

it's not a case of them being dx'ed or not. it is just like it is a cool thing to have. for the record, there are great things about having AS. but the truth is my life has been HELL. amazing. But HELL.

Lol this is true. I say I'm proud to be aspie- but in the same way that people are proud to be Estonian or proud to support Man U football club. It's just pride in who you are as a person, and I think that it's OK. But when it gets to "I'm proud to be aspie I am superior Gid I hate NTs so much' it gets offensive. What's really funny is that the perpetrators would all be up in arms if someone said that same about aspies.

As for a separate country- I can see why some people would want one- but I agree with you that it's pointless and doesn't help integration. Ghettoisation only segregates groups more, so in that aspect it's bad.

i fear for a future where i am unable to say tits when i want to.

the way young kids speak is somewhat different to the way i speak - although i have lots of different modes of speaking as part of my AS presentation.

i rejoice in young kids out there who have AS and are also communicating their views and how it is for them from their perspective and their sub-cultural vantage point.

Wars have been fought for stupider reasons than tits. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if a war did break out. In either case, good to see Friday Night Rants is back.

Well, I could do without the cussing, but diablodave is reasonable, states his case well, and has an interesting and entertaining way of stating his case.

As for the freedom to cuss? MOST of it means NOTHING anyway, and some words have lost various meanings, etc... As for that TITS signoff? Maybe it is an akronym or something.
