No, I actually expected you to be about your age, but was just wondering.
Not to imply you sound immature or anything, I've just noticed a tiny pattern.

I really don't know. I've never really had anyone tell me how old they thought I was on a forum. I suppose some might think I'm older than I really am, but I have no idea, to tell the truth. All of my close forum friends know my age and they're the ones I talk to the most, so that might also be why I feel like nobody on forums has ever misjudged my age.

Girl! You DON'T write like a 13 year old. But don't go changing! I love reading your stuff.

I read a bunch of my old stuff and I couldn't believe how wise I was when I was your age. Kind of creepy, actually. Hang on to all this. You'll freak your adult-self out someday.

I would certainly hope that the ones who do this are a minority...

I started posting on message boards when I was around 13.

These particular communities had (and have) very few young people in them and many people simply refused be I was my age because of my writing style and extensive knowledge of my special interest. Some of them thought I had to be someone they knew playing a trick on them.

I actually had people calling each other halfway around the world asking, "Who the hell is this Doug person?" 8O

Now I am old enough that it is not hard for people to believe I am the age I am, though people who don't know me probably assume otherwise on some forums where there are very few young people.

Ah, Padium - don't worry. You are one of the few guys with an open-mind, a strong will, independent thought, and (dare I say?) the confidence to learn from us aspie chicks. The rest? It's their loss.

I certainly don't intentionally ignore female members. I haven't noticed others doing it either but because I'm male I guess I wouldn't.

BTW, in your location, I would suggest using WAS, not DCA. DCA is an airport-specific code, WAS is the city code. (Cities with more than one airport usually have a city-wide IATA code like CHI, LON, PAR, NYC, WAS, etc.)

I live (part time) in Alexandria, VA - which is two metro stops from DCA.

BTW - I was in shipping...I live life in IATA codes. Mmmkay...?

Chronological age is rather meaningless for individuals with an ASD; it'll never be the same as your peers of the same age.

Which is why I don't have mine (27) up; I'm no different than when I was 6 in all ways but my physical body.

OK. It was just a suggestion.

ATL and SFO are pretty often used in a non-airport context, I think, but you had me wondering about DCA. It didn't occur to me that you meant you lived near the airport. Sorry.

That's ok. I'm used to to guys thinking I don't know what I'm talking about. How could you possibly know I was a customs agent?

When I was about 12-14sh, people often would mistake me for being older. It is the other way around now, and people auto-assume 12 (although they could just be trying to insult me).

Only reason they auto-assume 12 is because the way I act. I have a much different attitude elsewhere on the internet than you would ever see here. I act quite random, say obscure things, can be quite rude (on purpose), make fun of random subjects, ideas, et cetera. Very much like a kid I suppose!

Although, even when I don't act like that and I am in some kind of ret*d internet argument, I get called 12 years old. This is when I am trying to be the whole "mature" thing, and produce facts and supportive arguments for whatever the subject is.

People can be very situational. If it somehow helps them to call you a child when you aren't acting like one, they just might do it.

I guess that makes me older than you, I'm 8.
