That can be quite useful at times, its also true you need sleep to function which is where Red Bull comes into it (I know it's bad) but trust me your body will really appreciate it the night after when it's so tired you fall asleep within 10 minutes

If you wake up late try going to bed early.
When I was younger I used to be a deep sleeper, no so much anymore.
My pets usually wake me up at 5am - bah!

i have an ihome. i make a playlist of freakishly annoying and loud music to wake me up in the morning. try to get "Burning Up" by the Jonas Brothers on an alarm somewhere. ihomes are pretty convenient.

you don't have an ihome do you?

if this idea results in murdering your ihome then find some really upbeat music to wake up to. try Europe's "The Final Countdown" or the theme from Rocky. anything that will stimulate your mind.

I bought a sunrise alarm clock some months ago, just as winter was really setting in. I am not a morning person and usually stagger around with a "sleep hangover" in the morning, that is, IF I can get out of bed. The clock has been a tremendous help. It is expensive, but has been worth it.

When you set the alarm, a dome-shaped light begins to slowly light up and after 1/2 hour, it is fully lit. It simulates the sun coming up. Then the alarm goes off, which is a pleasant beep that gradually gets louder, also. By the time my brain is awake, my body is already awake (or is it the other way around??). I love it and bought one for my son, who also has a hard time waking up in the morning.

I thought about that at times, but I need my sleep to function.

Something made me think of Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book. The book tells of a lion with a very, very long tail, which he bit at bedtime. (Actually, he called it a "Chippendale Mupp," but no one remembers that.) "His tail is so long, he won't feel any pain, 'til the nip makes the trip and gets up to his brain," eight hours later.

So, following the good doctor's logic, how about a huge glass of water? Take notes for a few days, with different amounts, and see how long it takes to process the water... and it forces you to get up.

Other thoughts:
Keep a regular bedtime schedule, even on the weekends.
Google "wake up tricks," like this one: http://www.howtowakeupearly.com/
Set a light and/or music to automatically turn on fifteen minutes before the alarm.
Have a really annoying sibling or roommate come in, not to talk to you directly, but to rustle around and mess with your stuff.
Think about your diet and feeding schedule. Warm milk is a cliche for making you sleepy, but not if you're lactose intolerant.
(Does any on this sound useful?)

Yep, thanks. I can sleep through anything though, and hate getting up. I think the way will to set some kind of feel good music.

Easy solution:

Get a cat or 3.

Make a habit of feeding them immediately upon rising from bed at the time you MUST get up.

The cats will start waking you anywhere from 1-2 hours before you have to rise...

The biggest problem I have getting up is that my bed is significantly warmer than my room. As a result the reasons to get out of bed before I really have to (ie when if I get out later I'll be late to whatever it is I'm doing) are just not enough.

So I guess the answer to that would be warmer pajamas and less blankets? Slippers and robe right by the bed and ready to go?

In this weather, rare is the night that I can not have my quilt and not be freezing. PJs haven't had much of an effect either. Slippers are right by the bed but there's nowhere to put the dressing gown near the bed.
