nightbender,

We are just trying to help. Sorry if you don't like our valid advice/observations. The brain is incredibly complex, and nobody fully understands even the simplest thing about it. All we can do is give educated guesses. I have an easier time when I work with something I understand as well as anyone is ever likely to and, EVEN THEN, may still not solve the problem. If I fully understood this, I would EASILY have an IQ of 500, know everything in wikipedia, know a dozen languages, be a best selling author, and be a multi billionare. Since nobody on record has achieved that, I guess most people aren't close to succeeding.

Does anyone have any idea on what could fix this? BAsically there is some abnormal/dead cell mass in my dopamine nerves severing the connnection between my frontal lobe and the rest of my brain. its preventing me from moving forward in recovery and straining relationships with my family friends and caregivers. It was caused by acety-l-carntine creating bad connections on top nicotine/caffeine on top of a dopamine system intially reseting itself after a long period with neuroleptic drugs, the effect is a simliar to a lobotomy in terms of mental impairment.
Now i know that i had a similiar effect with acetyl-l-carnitine before when on meds but the meds broke it down after a while. i dont think taking risperdal again is an option as would make me severyl ill again. also a nutrional protocol i was given including some homeopathics started me on
returning to brain function/mental status. ANyone have any ideas on fixing it?

Can you clarify, I might be being very dense but I am not fully understanding the issues.
Were you taking L carnitine as a supplement or part of a clinical trial?(I have no knowledge of it having any established role in synaptogenesis, I know of it's theoretical neuroprotective role in Parkinsons) So I don't quite get the role of bad connections.

Dead connections/tumours or innappropriate apoptosis in dopaminergic pathways, an enormous issue. If neurons are dead in this area, nothing will help...like the famous Phineas Gage case study. If it's a lack of function due to receptor downregulation, you're right-re starting on some types of neuroleptics is the worst option, as they are usually dopamine receptor antagonists . I dont quite get the issue about smoking- it tends to reduce bioavailability and effectiveness of anti-psychotic class meds as its an inducer of CYP 450.(so it would have been reducing half life as well- *watering down* the regime you were on)

Essentially, if you had been on medication, dose should have been titrated down to lessen rebound effect....but basically, I think (ok, pharmacology bias  ) self treating with homeopathy isn't appropriate for a problem as big as actual neuronal loss. Obviously, this is just my opinion, but it reads like an issue for a specialist...can you go see one?

Hope you get some good advice
