No medications
No diagnosed mental disorders, but I think I might have suffered from:
Asperger's Syndrome
psychotic symptoms
depression (though probably not anything unusual. I think most people get depressed at some point in their life)
anxiety and panic attacks
No hospitalisation
What significant things did I do?
Told people someone else was living in my head, and sometimes took over my body and that was what happened all the times where something I happened I couldn't remember.
Accused people of things they didn't do.
Threatened suicide.
Slept for more hours than I was awake.
Wasted months doing practically nothing.
Fell asleep uncontrollably during lessons, or other times I was sitting down.
Suddenly left classrooms or other situations
Randomly got really upset and told the deputy head teacher to f*** off
Curled up in a ball on the floor and tried not to respond to anything.
What doctors have I had for my mental health?
One, unless you include my GP. Although I have also seen two counsellors, an occupational therapist and two educational psychologists.
The doctor was a consultant psychiatrist.
He was at a psychiatric outpatient clinic near where I live.
He did not diagnose me with anything. He said I do not suffer from AS, and that my parents had convinced me I had it (completely untrue! I have had to convince my parents!) He also told me that my list of anxiety symptoms which included falling asleep several times a day, palpitations every day, trembling and bad co-ordination did not mean my anxiety was an illness, just 'severe discomfort'. I think he was stupid, and mean.
I was offered antidepressants but I said no as they often have side effects and I would rather be prescribed an anxiolytic as I was/am suffering from anxiety, not depression.
