A "quirky" question!
I have definitely done the trash compacting thing - especially at fast food restaurants.
Something else I do, is eat my food "in order." (And just as the OP said about the trash - it's not a compulsion, just something I like to do.) So for instance, if I'm eating stir fry, I'll eat all the green peppers first, then the red peppers, then the green beans, then the broccoli, then the mushrooms, then the little corn cobs, etc... It isn't that I *have* to do it - but I like eating one flavor at a time. If I'm with people, I don't do it (like they need another reason to think I'm strange )

I don't do the trash compacting thing, but I don't see why it would be weird. Takes up less space. Count me as another person who can't leave a room until a certain song has stopped. I do the evenness thing to some extent....I always like my shoes to be lined up, and people who put mix up their left and right shoes when taking them off annoy me....well, the behavior more so than the person.
However, I never knew there were other people who ate their food in order until now. Although, I both enjoy it and have to do it....maybe not quite have to do it 100%, but I'd say 95%, I can make exceptions if in a situation where I can't eat properly, but then I don't "feel" right. My order: If it has meat, like a stew, then I eat the meat, then potatoes, then carrots, then rice, then gravy. If it's a salad and has meat, then meat first, if no meat, then tomatoes, onions, bellpeppers, croutons, other vegetables, finally lettuce. I also like my food to be separate. Not necessarily on separate plates, but I never mix a bite of one food with a bite of another when eating. And prefer my portions to be allocated a separate spot on the plate. Like hamburger separate from fries. Unless it's food that goes together, like lasagna or pizza, etc. And I can't watch others eat, if their "style" of eating disgusts me. I also won't drink until after I eat. And I prefer coke to any other drink on the planet and am annoyed when offered pepsi products.
Also, I don't like to litter, not just because it's not good, but it's visually distracting and annoys me. I'll carry am empty can or cup from uptown to downtown if I have to until I find a trash can. Most upsetting is when I'm with someone and they throw the container anywhere or leave it in shopping cart baskets.
I also prefer to walk on certain sides of the street, even if where I'm going might be on the other side.
For instance, if I eat a Filet of Fish combo meal from McDonald's, when I go to throw away the trash I will crush my cup, crumple it and my straw to a small size, stuff it inside my Filet of Fish box, crush that down, then put it inside the fry box which is usually the smallest container. I then take the fry box and bend corners inward and crush it as much as I can. Anyway, I'm wondering ... does anyone else do this? I want to think I'm not alone. But if not, what are some of your biggest quirks?
I don't eat fast food but I do a similar 'compaction' when out for coffee. I use artificial sweeteners as opposed to sugar. With the sweetener packets I always fold them and fit them into one another.
I'm also particular about the arrangement of my silverware- to my mind the correct sequence is fork, spoon, knife. If I'm at a restraunt I'll usually rearrange my utensils in that order.

I don't do the cup because I usually take it with me. I'm never without a Diet Coke in hand unless I'm on my way to getting more. I don't do it all the time, but most of the time, I try to crumble things up and place in containers into the bag type thing. I usually only seem to do it with wrappers. A fry box will usually have all the wrappers, napkins, and dropped food in it before I throw it away. It's not necessarily to save space as much as it acts as a miniature trash can.
I do it too, at least once in a while. When people call me on it, I usually say something like: "it takes up less space in the trash that way" (and thus, in a landfill too). Since nowadays, it's cool to care about the environment, people take my explanation pretty well, and not give me any trouble over it. You can view it as a way for us aspies to beat NTs at their own game: we're using their own social rules and trends (that they blindly accept) to give an explanation for our aspie behaviors. Score: aspies, 1 point; NTs, no points. Boo-yah!

I like stacking the trash and crushing beer and soda cans and ripping them in half. My favorite quirk in this category is where I have to stack the egg shells inside one another when I crack raw eggs. Boiled eggs don't crack as neatly, so the shells can't be stacked. Also in my mind, some foods take automatic precedence over others, giving each meal it's own order. Dishes are eaten sequentially.
I do the same thing (and have been told my mom's father did as well). Veggies, then starch, then protein.
