Of course, that's what I've been saying for decades.

What do you think, is WP the antithesis of AS?

This site is kind of like herding cats.

And in the naked light I saw
ten thousand people, maybe more
people talking without speaking
people hearing without listening
people writing songs, the voices never shared
and no one dared,
disturb the sound of Silence.

Excellent lyrics for sure.

herding cats yes
agree with garyww: sounds of silence, never thought they were so relevant before

also!

If you compare this forum with other forums, most of the posts involve the poster only talking about themselves or their own opinions, sometimes ignoring the entire thread of what has gone before or even the original post. Yes, we do socialise with each other a lot of the time, but the percentage is far less than the minimum that is tolerated in other forums.

This forum has a much higher percentage of what other forums would consider "spam" - but it is permitted here, mostly because it was probably originally not intended as spam but rather a very distantly related comment. Yet because most people here have more of an expectation of obsessiveness and less of related thought - and therefore have no ill intent when they do it - there is no more abuse of it here than on other forums.

wrongplanet is quite unique in that neither socialising nor extreme relevance are prerequisites for posting.

although I do agree with garyww and the poster at the top of this page in terms of similarness.

People with AS can be introverted or extroverted, just like NTs. We just express it a bit differently.

I like to interact with people, but too much sensory information and having to multitask makes socialising often exhausting, so it's easier for me to be alone. But the internet removes the sensory overload and the need to multitask, and so I can interact with people more easily. And I have more control over it too - I can control what I read, when I read it, and when I reply. That is often impossible in spoken conversation.

I'm not being social here. I talk about a lot of topics and at people too, occasionally getting drawn into an argument if somebody wants to be personally involved which I don't agree with because I'm not personally interested.

I'd describe being with my friends as social, but this is totally different from what I am doing here so I cannot believe that's being social. Maybe it is for others, but I do not feel personally involved or involved in social interaction here.

No. If this was a social site you wouldn't see so many threads about "Why can't we all just get along".
To me it seems more like some kind of grand phsychological target shooting gallery experiement designed by some evil genius to see what kind or type of Aspie/Auti can survive in the real world.

I sort of have the feeling we are being studied by some university like we are a bunch
of lab rats, especially the way let bad behavior get out of hand, lots of great case study
material here.

I like S and G! That IS appropriate, since it IS what we are doing. ALSO, it doesn't requie any skills that AS affects!

In my case, I love talking, especially about my special interests, but I hate being around people. There are very few people who I actually like being around. So, Internet forums are wonderful for me. I can talk to good friends via personal messaging without having to actually be in a social situation, and I can make posts about a special interest of mine. I can be all alone in my room, enjoying solitude, but still having a social interaction. Plus, I can actually think about what to say. If I say the wrong thing, I can just erase it before I post something. I think that Internet forums were made for Aspies, personally. I have met an unbelievable number of diagnosed Aspies on forums. In fact, many friends I've met on other forums eventually tell me that they're members of WP.

I don't really think so, unless you mean "antisocial"
in the popular sense. Even then, it's as often a matter
of being ill at ease around others ("What do you say
after you say 'hello'?") as of being anti-social in that way.

Certainly, I'd not be antisocial in the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual sense (fraudmeisters, serial murderers,
and career criminals could fit a diagnosis of
antisocial personality disorder.)

I find myself at ease on forums like wrongplanet because
I don't have to worry about looking either too stupid or too
smart.
