Depends on the animal, really. I'm not terribly fond of small dogs or domestic cats unless they're mellow, and I love big doggies, especially malamutes and akitas. (They really tend to like me, too.) I also like wild animals a lot, and they seem to be okay with me, too. I've encountered a lot of skunks, rattlesnakes, and opossums, and none of them have ever been all that freaked out by me. Skunks just kinda think I'm neat for some reason, and I can't seem to shoo them away when they're blocking my path. Rattlesnakes I can shoo away fine, and I've never even been rattled at. Opossums just ignore me entirely. My favorite animals are wolves, but I've never seen any outside of captivity. :(

I adore animals.

I like them better than people, although it makes me feel bad sometimes.

My sister said to me the other day "why do you always kiss the cat, it annoys me because you never kiss any of us".

I also love animals, and I also find animals easier to deal with than people. My favorite pets are dogs and cats. I am essentially a dog-lover--I love how dogs greet you when you come home, and that they show their affection by licking (I don't mind the slobber). I tend to like the bigger and mid-size breed dogs (collie, golden retriever, Labrador retriever, Keeshond. samoyed, Shetland sheepdog, German shepherd). The down side of dogs is that they require more maintenance than cats, and you cannot leave them alone in the house. In our house we have a blue point Siamese who is also very loving and affectionate. I love the feel of dog or cat fur.

we put in a doggie door in our bedroom door (back door) and put in a small fenced in area so that if we need to we can leave the dogs alone. we are trying to enlarge the fenced in area because at the time we only had small dogs, but now we have a lab. we have four and a third acres, so we want to fence in an acre or two for them to run.

I love animals. I like cats, but I prefer dogs. There's just something about dogs that I love. For example, it seems to be easier to talk to my dog about anything than it is talking to my 4 cats. I love horses, as well as monkeys. Those are my favorite animals.

Does my handle and the names of two of my cats give it away? :) I love Tenchi, at least the OAVs.

Quote:
Sugar gliders are tiny gliding opossums from Indonesia, New Guinea, New Zealand and Australia. Wild sugar gliders live in colonies of 6 to 15 animals in tree hollows or other nests made of vegetation. They spend daylight hours cuddling in their nest. Early evening and night will find them foraging for food and protecting their tree.

An adult sugar glider is about the size of a hamster or flying squirrel, approximately 5 to 7 inches long from tip of nose to base of tail. Adults in proper body condition weigh between 3 and 4 ounces. The tail is fluffy, often curls on the end and usually is longer than the body length.

A young sugar glider is silver-gray with a black stripe that starts just above the nose leather and extends over the forehead, down the neck and back and joins the black tail. A dark stripe also runs from the outside corner of the eye to the ear. Captive-raised sugar gliders remain this color throughout their lives. Wild sugar gliders are born this color but usually become stained cocoa brown from the vegetation and tree sap in their nests. Their new coats will come in silver-gray after shedding the old coat.

The sugar glider's belly is a soft white, meeting the gray exactly at the outside edge of the fully furred gliding membranes. This gives a unique scalloped effect when they are relaxed. The sugar glider has four fingers and an opposable thumb on its hands and feet. The thumbs on the rear feet are without claws. Toes and fingers have small pads that help the animal grasp food and branches. Each toe and finger ends in a sharp claw that can hook like Velcro to nonslick surfaces.

I think they're a protected species here, possibly endangered. I've only seen a few in the wild.

Bland-I think pets can be just as consuming as people. I have too many people to deal with, let alone pets. I used to adore animals as a child because I could love them without talking to them. Basically, I'm just too busy for animals as pets now. I do enjoy eating them, though. If I could have my choice in pets I would have a dragon. I do believe dragons used to exist. People used to refer to dinosaurs as dragons. There are many ancient writings that talk about dragons. The word "dinosaur" didnt exist until the 19th century. I even beilieve that there were fire-breathing varieties; the Bible speaks of them in the book of Job. Hey, if eels can generate electricity and some fish and moss can glow, and if a Bombadeer Beatle can ignite explosions from its behind than there could have been fire-breathing dragons. Think about it.
