Another Asperger Movie

Either that or you could have some whackjob gangster character like Bruce Willis's guy in Whole 9/10 Yards finding he has AS, wanting to do his hits for the mob with weapons that don't give him sensory overload (a lot of humor played on that), get Matt Dillan or Bill Crystal in it somewhere, and just go for the comedy.

was the airplane engenneer in "Flight of the Phoenix" an aspie? I only saw the first 45 minutes so I dont really know. He started out that way.

Yes,he seem to act very aspieish throughout the rest of the film.

How about a movie that follows someone through his life. Shows him/her as a kid, getting beat up in school, getting diagnosed, the tantrums, the rough moments, the voiceovers/thinking in pictures, the sensory sensitivities. And even as an adult, the social challenges, the discrimination, the yearning to be in love/challenges as to knowing how to go about making progress in that direction...

...AND DESPITE OF ALL OF THAT...

Shows the aspie's genius,

Shows the aspie going to college,

Shows the aspie entering the real world,

And shows the aspie pursuing his/her special interest, and making a big, positive difference in the real world, in the field that has been his/her obsession throughout life.

I'm sure that would open a lot of eyes.

Well I hope more asperger/aspie-like movies appear more often in cinema/television. I think television is a very powerful tool that could possibly make having aspergers syndrome cool and gifted to have...

An incredibly movie could be an outlet in the way the general public percieves aspergers...

Actually, that individual came to mind when I was thinking about that idea...but remember, he's not officially dx'd, at least not now.

The story may be of this or that. What is important is that there are two main characters that have issues when they first meet, then start to like each other after they experience some event together. Gets them every time.

I'm trying to write a science fiction novel about a present-day doctor who gets catapulted 100,000 years into the future from a botched 'grey' alien abduction. There he finds that he is in the middle of a racial war between four human-derived super-races, which include the 'greys'. Later on, he is rescued by a family from a peaceful race of 9-foot tall aspies.

Yes, like some sort of build up! The premise: I'm unsure of the genre-by the way have you've seen "The Aviator". The main character(the pilot) I believe haves Asperger Syndrome. Anyways, he was extrordinary billionaire; meaning: He was well-recognized, noticed, and praised about because of his extrordinary talented ability as an plane-maker and pilot. In order for your movie to be more interesting how about a realistic portrayal(A build up) of someone with Asperger's Syndrome who's incredibly famous for doing something...

The "pilot" is Howard Hughes. Many people say he was an aspie, and his obsessions around the HK-1 flying boat went well into OCD. The History Channel program on the HK-1 is pretty good. He was the pilot of his time and it was only a few years before that pilots were just this side of witchdoctors and just a few years before that that the only thing the Wright brothers did was run a bicycle shop.

A good aspie movie I think would prettt much have the mostly normal guy and would examine thought process aspects and would really only reveal it explicity at the end.

I don't know. I saw A Beautiful Mind, and thought it was really interesting. I thought he may have had an ASD, but obviously in a dramatisation of someone's life incidental information is missed out - the kind of incidental information that is helpful when spotting a fellow ASDer!
