My stomach when in bed, on my side when on my couch.

Classic sleeping position for me is on my belly, head turned to the left, or right if I have a headache, but I can't start out that way.

When I go to be initally, I start out on my side, then I have to transistion to laying on my belly.

I can't fall asleep on my back, I did once for the sake of doing it on 8/29/1991, but I just don't feel right doing it.

However I often wake up on my side or back.

did you know that sleeping on your right side.. is the most healthy position for your body...
i don't remember exactly why.. but i know it has something to do with your heart being on the left. maybe not o put any presure on it?...

Normally, I sleep on my side, but I switch frequently at night, especially if one of my cats is sharing my bed.

I have a bad back, which forces me to sleep in a semi-fetal position.

I sleep on my belly, with at least one arm under my pillow. I'm not sure why, but I _cannot_ fall asleep any other way. I sometimes wake up in other positions, though. I don't tend to sleep too well. :(

I start out on my back. Then I switch to my left side, occasionally switching to the right. Sometimes I sleep on my stomach with my head resting on the left side of the bed (from back sleeping perspective) and turned left. I can't place my head on the pillow while laying down on my stomach even if my head is turned, because I feel this god awful sensation of pressure on my face that I don't feel if the side of my head is resting against the mattress. And I absolutely cannot lay down on my back for too long or it starts to ache. And thats regardless of the sleeping surface.

I'm the only one who prefers to sleep on my back?

Shows how self-confident/trusting we all are. Cats, for example, will only lie on their back if they trust you. It's a vulnerable position to be in!

Anyways, I can't decide between standing and on the side. I've prefer both.
But i'm going to be conventional about it and vote for on the side. I am a weirdo serrisa. A proud one at that.

Note: I'm kidding about me sleeping standing. :P

But if any aspie here does sleep standing you shouldn't be ashamed. It's your own preference that's all. A bit unusual yeah. But still your own way of sleeping.

Gracias.

No, I tell JOKES standing up! :P

And yeah, don't feel ashamed if you sleep standing- but dude, that is a little strange, I'm not gonna lie. Cool in a way, but strange. ;)

I agree that it's too vulnerable and that's why I can't relax enough on my back to fall asleep. Several years ago pediatricians decided that fewer babies would die from SIDS if they were placed on their backs to sleep, instead of their stomachs, and I was horrified. My kids were about 1 and 3 at the time, and I remember thinking that I would ignore the pediatricians because you should see how a baby reacts when you go to put it down on its back. It flings its arms up like it's going to fall.

I'm a back sleeper. But for variety, I may go from side to side a little. I seem to favor right over left, but primarily I'm on my back.

I always sleep in the foetal position. I have slept that way for my entire life. No other sleeping position is comfortable for me at all.

I tend to switch between fetal position and on my stomach several times through the night. I'm a pretty restless sleeper (hah, in more ways than one, since I have chronic insomnia issues as well). I think I'm in the fetal position for a greater proportion of the time, so that's what I put in the poll.
