It only would be of concern if you had other symptoms with the dilation.
I think that is not the case with You?!

If you're not taking drugs, meds etc., it is most likely caused by "low blood pressure".

Do you have that?

I remember when I was a teen and my boss always used to comment on my dilated pupils (She had the same problem ).

The "Bella Donna" eyes came from my "chronic low blood pressure", which was especially "down" after a hard day of work and little food. I also smoked back then.

I was supposed to take blood pressure meds, but they made me feel weird so I did not take them. The doc was always angry when my blood pressure was still low (she knew I was not taking the meds).

I do have slightly low blood pressure. Belladonna is an atropine (& significant in my research).

Quite a lot of similar accounts from others - wow.

Anyway, the only reason I would be concernd would be in the case of a meltdown, where my eyes + 'meltdown behavior' would invariably be misinterpreted by another. Medic alert, or a medic card, etc is a good idea for those Autist's who are meltdown prone or equivalent. Like what Ravenclawgurl wrote.

But I feel fine now, back to (ab)normal 8O

The "Bella" Donna" eyes was a metaphor :O)

In the olden days the ladies used to drop that ( I assume diluted) into their eyes to get those large pupils which suggests arousal or infatuation.

Like I said prob. your low blood pressure.

Honest answer: i think its all in your head.

No, I am an analytical being. On Wednesday a.m. when I looked in the mirror (in OP) my pupils were significantly dilated. Meaning, the green of my eyes was eclipsed by my black pupils. This is a physical reality, not my imagination. The lighting above my bath mirror are a constant, not a variable, and there is no window in the bath - light therefore was not a variable on Wednesday a.m. The diameter of the dilation was in mm; significantly unlike usual. Albeit, I DO have naturally dilated pupils, to an extent - not that drastic! About my naturally dilated pupils - not kidding. My opthalamologist has noted this as well. It's a real feature but not of any real consequence - just really odd for that Wednesday since out of the ordinary dilated!

But if you suggest 'it's in my head,' well, yes! In that my eyeballs ARE in my head.

BTW: My eyes are back to normal-dilated now - and I feel ok. I did get some rest, which may have been a precipitating factor - unknown.

Well then I would suggest to stop fixating on it.

You're a woman, right?
I've heard that females' pupils dilate widest during ovulation (roughly 14th day of cycle), when we are most fertile. I think this is why statistics show that men are more attracted to women when their pupils are dilated. If your pupils are naturally dilated anyway then ovulation may cause them to dilate even more, making them look dramatically dilated.

If not, then it was probably down to fatigue or interest as others have suggested.

Yes, female (my video is below...). And that is a factor, of many that are likely.

Many ASD individuals are really photosensitive, as we know. Those pesky fluorescent lighting that is a torment. Evidence of our rods/cones actually being functioning different. Light does hurt by senses.

Maybe...for some with AS, dilated is "normal" or typical with some kind of outside stimuli and a reaction of this.
This is all pure speculation on my part and please, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but is it not one of the AS symptoms to dislike daylight/sunlight? Maybe this is why? Your pupils are dilated allowing way too much sunlight in, or other light in, causing too much stimuli?

It's just a thought...

I try to never look in the mirror, and when I have to, I try to notice as little as possible, so I'm not sure. However, I do know that I can see with very little light compared to other people. But then, it could probably be that my eyes are just very sensitive.

I've always had dilated pupils and I've asked regular doctors and eye doctors and no one has been able to tell me why my pupils dilate sometimes. It happened more when I was younger.

maybe our eyes just dilate more easily, as a condition of stress or who knows what else. i notice i'm WAY more sensitive to sensory input if i'm tired or anxious about something, etc. (and that would explain light sensitivity, like a few people said)

but i kind of thought it was just one of those "naturally on drugs" sort of things that just goes along with AS.

fairly frequently i have the "did someone slip something in my drink???" feeling .. one day it's like a low dose of acid; the next, speed. my body just creates these sensations like a wild rollercoaster. i would guess occasional dilated pupils would come along with the package. i often worry that people think i have a drug problem. but really - it's just the way i am.

yet again i have to express my gratitude for wrong planet .. it is SO nice to experience something bizarre and virtually always find something written about it on here so i know i'm not the only one.
