Think of life in terms of chess pawns and strategic moves.

You don't have to do anything. Just don't cry when you are ostracized.

It suddenly dawned on me recently that the rest of the world is playing Monopoly, while all this time, I´ve been playing Parcheesi...

Do I have to throw a six to start?

can I do it in an absurdist or surreal fashion? perhaps i can carry a little pamphlet with 'Life - The Rules' on it and point out when someone else doesn't adhere?

I can take it from the actual board game called 'The Game of Life'! !

I don't get ostracised. (Most) People don't speak to me because I don't speak to them, but it doesn't bother me.

What's the definition of game?

This reminds me of a stock phrase a friend uses, "it's a dance." What the hell do you mean by dance?

Life is a series of obfuscations told by confident but ignorant people.

If it were a game, then I could take a break. I could choose to not even enter the game. I could read up on the rules before I even pick up a piece. Other people would play by the same rules as everyone else. Alternatively, I could pick up the board, ruin the game for everyone else and then do something else instead. Life is not a game and sayings like that are inaccurate generalisations designed to make indirect points to other people. Usually to try and belittle them.

Life is a board game which the manufacturer forgot to put instructions in the box for. So it is incredibly frustrating. I have to figure out what the pieces and board mean. So in a way I have to create my own game or find my own way to succeed in the world or life that is different from anyone else's. I have to create my own rules which make me see the world in a way different than anyone else. I am a nonconformist because I have to be.

This is exactly why life is not a game.

See §66 in Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations.

Well of course it truly isn't. As I said before, I think of it in terms of a chess game, but it's only a metaphorical expression at best.
