I am not sure I understand this thread...you want to report a pub because they didn't ID you and you look young? Why is it such a big deal to call the police department and say "this place didn't ID me and I look young. I am worried they serve underage costumers there". I don't get why people have a problem with someone doing it. Happens all the time. You'd be surprised at how many people report such places, then they get raided. You'd also be surprised at how many kids lose their lives to such activities as drinking and driving. Just call and report them then forget about it!

Because drinking isn't the same as drinking and driving, regardless of what neo-prohibitionist groups like MADD want you to think. Mind your own business. I always say, the more you keep your nose out of other peoples' business the less it'll get broke.

It wasn't a rotten thing to do and Padium is the one who made this thread with the question in the first place. Obviously she was concerned and felt like she should do something. I don't blame her!

It was rotten. That reminds me of the people who told the Nazi's what attic Jews were hiding in.

Certainly more legal than what the servers did :P

Also, I know they teach you what is and isn't acceptable for when to not ID a person in SafeServ, I know because I had to take it for the job I am applying for. Not to mention, this pub is in a neighbourhood with roughly 3000 people who are underage drinkers (based on university of waterloo statistics on their student population through surveys complete and not extrapolated on for the year of fall 2008-spring 2009)

Actually there's no comparison between the two at all.

I am still wondering if I am not getting something? Does your cousin go there? If your cousin goes there call her and tell her not to go because you heard a rumor it might get raided.

Turning in Jews during the holocaust would have been legal too. Big difference between what's legal and whats right. I hope the underage people find out you did that and retaliate.

Except the legal drinking age laws don't discriminate against anyone. I also do believe the drinking age should be 12, but that's for another thread.

I'm not anywhere close to there. I think those are bad laws. And I HATE people who are snitches. As I said, snitches are b*****s who should wind up in ditches.

you can go to every bar and bust every bottle for a three mile radius, Padium, but if an alcoholic wants a drink there is nothing you can do that will stop them. She has got to want to be sober more than she wants to be drunk. Only that will do it.

Yeah they do - they discriminate based on age.

Have you ever forgot to brush your teeth? Have you ever forgot to turn off a light, pick up batteries, watch a show you wanted to, etc.? Just because you weren't carded one time doesn't mean that that place gives everybody that treatment, the person who was supposed to probably forgot that one time. Here's the thing, do you believe that one person deserves to lose their job and get massive fines because of a small mistake they made one time? If you report them to the police, that person is going to lose their job, get fined, and possibly go to jail. You said yourself that even you think that the drinking age is too high, so bearing that in mind, is it worth it to cause one person so much grief because of a mistake they made one time?

Sometimes, if you've been to the same place multiple times, if they remember you, they won't card you. The convenience store near my house is like that, I go in there all the time, they know that I'm over 21, so I don't get carded every single time. If someone who definitely looks under 21 goes in there, they're going to card them, there's too much at stake.

It's not the same thing at all. Many people hid jews were found out and shot by the Nazis but I doubt you realize that or care.
