I do not feel like an invalid.

People like me being labelled as one is nothing short of insulting.

People underestimate my capability with things and assume i'm stupid. I don't think we should have to put up with that.

Look, I like neurotypical people, but I wouldn't want to be one. I work for a small business where we actually have one working in the office, she seems to have a savant-like aptitide for dealing with customers and such, but you can't trust her to do any of the technical or creative work. Me and the boss are aspies. Neurotypical people also seem to only have a superficial interest in the finer things in life, like comic books and music.

Sorry, that whole "Cure Neurotypicality Now" style of satire is pretty annoying, but that's actually what my workplace is like. How disabling Asperger's is really depends on context. Personally, I wouldn't be "cured" for quids.

I agree with what you said about the finer things in life..

I always considered myself a very deep thinker, it kinda feels like NT's are only scratching the surface with well, EVERYTHING.

Darwinian world? Do you think Fad followers and superficial people are at the forefront of evolution? I don't!

Look around! There are major geniuses among us!! There are alot of people are jeolous of our best traits. We sacrifice a few social skills in order to excel at logical and creative skills. Many of us are vastly intellectually superior to so called "NT's". Long before "Aspie" was a well known term, VULCAN was an even more well known term from Star Trek. We are like Vulcans....calm under pressure, logical and baffled by trivial small talk and fads. Are we inferior? Yes, but also superior as well.

The abilities of Aspies are not sugarcoated at ALL!! !!
There are real people out there that are real geniuses who design things and solve problems for the world.

I like the range of perspectives in this thread, and appreciate Mr. Pink starting it. Although we are all aspies, look at the range of ages and backgrounds - for sure some are going to be up and positive and some are going to be down and negative, with most some place in the middle.

I wonder how these forums will be in 20 years, when the young aspies diagnosed early and provided support/accommodation/training and so forth (gaining a group identity in the process) are approaching middle-age. There was nothing when I was growing up, only utter alienation. From that perspective, I think it's getting better for us, and encourage that we beat the drums to be recognized as entitled to the basics, like everyone else. Oops sorry, I'm getting off track.
