I hate suits and everything that goes with them. The shoes -- let's start at the bottom -- are stiff and uncomfortable and hurt my heels after a while. The pants feel weird on the inside and rub against my legs when I'm walking (I usually only wear straight, almost skinny jeans). Shirts are too tight at the neck, and it looks weird if I leave the first button undone. Besides, they are too hot in the summer and don't offer any protection against the cold in the winter. Such an utterly useless piece of clothing.

The same goes for suit jackets. They fail to keep the torso warm during the winter and turn into a portable sweat lodge in the summer. I also hate the way they cover my butt, which makes it awkward to sit down in them. I always sit on the bottom of the suit jacket, which pulls it down and tugs on my shoulders. But the worst piece of clothing that was ever invented is the tie. I mean, what in all seven hells is the purpose of a cloth arrow that points at my crotch? It's totally obscene, bloody useless, always gets in the way and ends up in sinks or coffee mugs or gravy-laden dishes, and I never learned how to correctly bind the damn things.

Not only are all these clothing items bothersome and unpractical, their maintenance is also a female dog. You can't just wash and dry them like comfortable and practical 21st century clothes, they have to be dry-cleaned and ironed. I mean... ironing? Which century is this again? When I stopped working, I promised myself that I'd never wear a suit or a shirt again. From here on in, it's jeans, sweaters and T-shirts for me.

I've had meltdowns when I've had to dress up. Luckily, I work in a field where T-shirts and jeans are acceptable attire.

At my first two jobs, I could dress any way I wanted. But my last place of work was an office environment where everyone wore suits. My boss already cut me some slack when he allowed me to wear jeans, but he drew the line at T-shirts, sweaters and sneakers (he was 70+ years old and quite old-fashioned). So I had to show up in shirts that always looked like scrunched-up gift wrap, because I never learned how to iron them :? One more reason for my colleagues to make fun of me.

I also had to wear suits to church as a kid. Sunday was the worst day of the week for me :x

Cropped jeans and a black V-necked or scooped t-shirt is what I wear almost every day. I love certain flip flops in the warmer months and 1 pair of velcro shoes in the winter.

Like: Soft gym trousers, big hoodies, lumberjack style boots, trainers, long socks, t-shirts with longer sleeves, clothes that don't reveal your chest, underarms, etc, unisex or men's clothing.

Dislike:The majority of 'women's clothes' that seem to be designed by people who want all women to be skinny, revealing, tacky, fake morons who don't want practicality and comfort.

Unless you are about to fire up your flux-capacitor and hit 55, burn them. Stupid 90s.

I can't wear jumpers/t-shirts/shirts which sit "too tight". That makes me feel trapped and like they're sitting all wrong and weird. Can't stand it.

Starting with footwear- Very picky about how shoes feel. Pinching and heel rubbing are not acceptable. I only really wear croc chef shoes, regular crocs, occasionally sneakers, and dansko clogs. I know they aren't very attractive shoes but I have big feet and the shoes have to work for me.
Socks- must be same type. I have lots of little cotton footie socks in different colors. Those can be mixed and matched because they are the same type.

I only like pants that are cut for my shape and that don't bind or or sag or pinch anywhere. It isn't easy to find those pants! :) I wear lots of black lounge pants, not quite sweats or yoga, but like dressy pj pants.
I rarely wear skirts, but when I do, I wear them over my black lounge pants.

Shirts- Layers in cotton. Utilitarian/quirky styling. I'm a 6 ft tall woman, and it is easier to just skip all the frou frou frills and bunched lace and pointless decals. I don't like clothes that have branding emblazoned on them. Shirts can't bind under the arms or be too short. Ugh. If I can feel the shirt cling or climb up when I breathe in deeply, it gets torn off. (in my bedroom of course. ;))

I usually wear sweatshirts. Some hoodies, but mostly like boating type cotton sweatshirts. Cut conservative, with long sleeves and wide necks. I often wear scarves, even when it is warm out. There is something comforting about having one's neck protected. I like to burrow my chin into the scarf like a little turtle.

Don't care for hats. They look ridiculous on me.

Items of clothes I can't stand - high heels. it is just torture.
- tight underwear
- pants that slide down when you bend over
- shirts that are cut for women who are 5'5" or shorter.
- clothes that are hard to get out of. I get overheated very fast, and if I can't take off a
layer gracefully and asap, it just doesn't get worn.
- anything that binds or feels tight to breathe in.

Same. Can't walk in heels. Actually, can't walk in most footwear any more. :(

This is an interesting thread! We all have a lot in common and yet a lot of little differences.

I can't wear heels either, I can't walk in them. I like wearing converse-style trainers.
I also don't like the colour orange...! I don't like wearing colours most of the time. Just black.
I hate having clothes around my neck, like round-neck t shirts and polo-neck jumpers. In the winter I'll wear something low-cut/slash-neck-style and then a scarf. I feel much better if I can quickly remove things.
Along the same lines I hate anything thick, I'd rather wear a few thin layers than one thick item.
I hate jeans, I can never find a comfortable pair. They always fall down off my bum when I bend over...! Unless they've got an elasticated waist (best invention ever... although I think they're meant to be maternity jeans... )

When I was a little girl I hated girly clothes, but I've since grown to love them. I like wearing dresses, especially empire-waist dresses. Nice, loose-fitting ones are best. I have no interest in looking 'sexy', but girly is fun. A nice elasticated/shirred, loose dress is the queen of comfort! I can even put up with wearing tights if I'm wearing a comfortable dress - just look out for the biggest size one can find, and turn them inside out to avoid those pesky seams in the toes... Though I do look a little silly wearing trainers with it, I just pretend I'm setting a trend. I also like having flowers in my hair, but I won't wear jewellery, except maybe a light, simple necklace if I remember to put one on.

Also, when I was little, I would wear my socks inside out, I wouldn't wear underpants with lace on cause it would hurt, and I got my mum to cut all my tags out and unpick the 'stub' cause I'd still be able to feel it. I don't usually notice these things too much as an adult, but I did wear a pair of jeans the other day with a label on the inside that I swear was made from knives.

I also love a brand new pair of socks fresh out of the packet. There's nothing better.
I'm more comfortable wearing a bra, than not wearing one. It has to be really tight, though, and it's a nightmare finding a comfortable one in the first place...
