24,477+ topic

I never thought of this thread as exclusionary. I guess the young people like to be included. I did not think of nominating everyone.

When I was a kid  some won and some lost. I never got sports ribbons, academic recognition, talent awards. I was just me. Quietly. Nowadays, according to my kids, everyone likes to be recognized. My bad. I get those on the Autism Spectrum are no exception.

For this reason I applaud you all, as I did in my earlier post when I extended a heartfelt thanks to all who contributed. All 24,477+ members, even the trolls who try to sell cheap gucci handbags and nike shoes. I guess you have to make a living somehow. Oh, also those women who will send revealling pictures to male members who email them back. :P

Now I am sarcasticsue! :duh: :nerdy:

Sartresue that was a lovely thing to put.
I'm new but not young, I expected not to be part of this thread (and only read it because it had garnered so many pages)

I guess the thing is any awards, to those new to here, suggest former unhappy recollections of pecking orders. The other thing is as I posted somewhere else (Scott F's thread I think) the first thought on joining here is "woohoo, an instant community of best friends, genetically engineered to be entirely compatible with me" :)
Followed by "WHERE ARE MY NEW B.F.F's? I want them NOW" -Patience, not one of my virtues.
Yeah, cos we can play cat's cradle and braid each others hair

However being more pragmatic now, it's nice to see that if you're here for long enough, friendships , understandings and appreciations are formed. And I find the haven a great help.

I nominate Danielismyname for most quoting of official sources in posts.

I nominate KingdomofRats for most use of the word "am," which gives her posts an interesting flavor.

I nominate Labpet for most awesome Youtube video on autism.

As far as I am concerned once things start going to the dogs as 'they' say then it becomes something of real interest otherwise it is just boring trivia.

I vote DiabloDave363 for being cute and genuine and not giving a**hole comments like some people - who have no respect to peoples feelings except for their own.

Overall this time of thread makes people feel terrible if they're left out, especially on a site where people get left out anyway and in real life.

I have been guilty of making such threads, and I've noticed several cliques over the years, but never been part of one, a lone soldier.

I'm not saying I don't like the thread, I'm just looking at it from a realistic point of view. I've never been one of the popular kids, online or off. I guess threads like this just make people feel like they're back at school again.

Hmm yes I agree.

Fnord - new WP Shaman nomination - -having recently ousted Lobrojo. also gets nomiated for best and most hilarious arguer.

I can not take full credit for this award. Dussel deserves this award as much as, if not moreso, than I for his hard-hitting factual rebuttals. At the very least, it was an unplanned tag-team effort.

So, on behalf of the team, I accept this award.

having just re-read the thread, i am in agreement with you regarding Dussell's equally stimulating input.

so...Dussell..i hope you will, in the name of fairplay and objective appraisal, also accept this nomination for new WP Shaman.

perhaps the two of you can ponder ulitmate supremacy over a pipe or two, or the imbibing of some lizard scale juiced with vine roots.

I beg your pardon? Ousted? How?

He just left and never answered anything els and went into a yes, no debate about things nothing to do with shamnism anymore, as I also told Fnord and him that it was futile a debate. I didn't need ot have the last word.

Obviously his western vison and unexperienced past about rituals (I don't consider injecting heroin in a vein as shamanistic) and my adopted vision of Shamans in S America simply don't get along.

A shaman? of promoting adulterated hard drugs to be consumed in a hedonistic way, like Fnord experienced.

Let me laugh Millie...
