I don't think ASS-P is a "stupid as*hole.'

I do believe he has it in him to improve his situation. He's a pretty bright guy. He's not an ignoramus.

If his brother had lots of "stuff," ASS-P would have to store it. And that costs money per month in a storage facility. It's a bit of a pain in the butt.

What I'm thinking: Maybe ASS-P can be sent the pictures and such which are easily stored within his "person" or a knapsack first. Then, when he becomes able to store things in a storage facility, he could ask whoever has the rest of the stuff to send it to him.

That assumes intelligence is enough to improve his situation.

He's a person of at least average intelligence.

The problem with autism is it causes obstructions that intelligence can not overcome.

I know it does.

I'd have to have met him in order to really determine anything conclusively about him. I'm basing my impressions on "talking" to him via WP.

That's the thing. Most everyone here only knows each other as text on a screen.

I have a suggestion that may help with the issue of the family photos. If ASS-P can get a new gmail account set up in his name (free of charge and can be done using the directions on the gmail website), it comes with gigabites of digital storage in the cloud. Then, he might be able to get the lawyer (or somebody else) to scan the photos he wants and email them to him (at his new gmail email account). He would be able to see them anytime he wanted to by simply logging into his account via the internet. He could also print them out later on if/when the money became available to him. I think that this might be one of the best ways for him to access the photos without fear that they get lost as he moves around from place to place.

I do not have a simple solution for the rest of the stuff though. (Sorry)

^That's a pretty good suggestion. Certainly better than ignoring the lawyer until unclaimed items are sent to a landfill.

I have dozens of digital photos. Some of which are of great value to me.

Wouldn't it be better to PM him that info than make it public?

...I have a standard G-Mail account anyway, but I don't think there's any way in the world I could get the - quite elderly, I believe - lawyer of my parents to scan and put online old photos for me. I think he might be inclined to respond ' what the hell is that? ". People who are " cyber-hip " generally overestimate how much knowledge - and access/stuff - people who are not " cyber-hip ' have.
Likewise, I am so not a part of " The real world " that I have a laptop that I could rake college courses in, as Goldfish assumes U so.
I don't, and looking for one, with my ceippled-ness  and being officially confined here. would be a problem especially with no helo, as now :( .

They were probably thinking the lawyer has a secretary to scan stuff. I'd imagine he has to deal with scanning documents. Making a scan is as simple as making a photocopy. Any lawyer's office should have a printer/scanner machine since like 1997.

But of course you just asking him if he can do it is going to be impossible, because you don't have phone, even though you're posting with one.

Right but getting back and forth to a university and traveling all over the campus lugging books wouldn't be an issue. Btw you're still going to need a laptop as a real world university student.

THIS. ALL OF THIS.

Maybe someone who is by this *stuff* can scan it/hell just snap photos of the pictures via a cell phone, and uploaded it to Google Drive.

The problem is how much stuff is here? Two boxes? A manilla envelope? A small garage's worth? Can you get a social worker from the shelter to yap with the lawyer to find out what is really there?

I don't see why lawyer's can't FedEx the photos and paperwork if an estate is paying them. The bigger things may not be doable.

I have taken pictures of keepsakes and tossed the actual item. My DDs favorite baby clothes. A worsen out toy that is sentimental to me. I have the picture and the memories. I don't need the actual item.

Advice is sort of worthless until you can say how many items are actually there. The photos and documents can be saved with some thought.

...I lost a long response to Ezra and I'm hurt over it  . My parents would be in their nineties if they were alive and I believe that lawyer would be a contemporary of them - and the stuff is likely firmly packed away already.
