Beau, Zara, Last Crazy & others who are still over there talking with parents, I really appreciate your being there.
I disagree that anyone would get swayed or contaminated or abused by the parents at AS, simply by being an Aspie on that board. The parents who are more extreme and nasty are that way with everyone who opposes their viewpoint. I know this from lotsa personal experience on these parent boards! Parents who have a lighter heart about it all and can actually discuss and disagree in a productive way are that way with everyone else, too.
And I'm glad to see livsparents, I Hate the FDA, c.darwin and The Diva over here, too.
My experience is that most parents really do want to listen to and learn from autistic adults. Y'all just gotta go slowly with us.

I can see that one of the worst of the harpies/bullies is saying that she appreciates a really great post by one of the WP folks who is also over there. All of the stuff that that person wrote, are things I have written about being an Autistic adult. Not saying that the WP person took the ideas from anyone else, just that they are very common statements about how we feel about being on the spectrum. If I posted the same things I'd get vicious digs from that same mom.
The difference is that the autistic adults over there who haven't
yet had an attempted evisceration by the harpies
have not questioned the harpies love of chelation, chemical castration and other dangerous quackery or their hatred of vaccines.
I mean, it's great to have that flow of respect going between putatively NT parents with the ASD adults there who are articulating their thoughts so well. But hang onto your hats if any of the ASD adults question the epidemic (that they are too old to be part of) or the antivaccine hatred or the CDC hatred or the FDA hatred.
Autistic adults are fine in their place as far as those people are concerned.
Our place is to be decorative knick-knacks and not to question anything the parents do, not even IV vinegar and garlic infusions. Not even putting kids in a potentially explosive mHBOT balloon.
Don't dare question it in the least or the harpies will attack, and usually in a very insidious and passive aggressive way that leaves autistic people very hurt.
I'm not saying that the WP members who are now on the AS board
need to challenge the (few) monsters there on anything in particular or that they
need to write about their concerns about quackery or try to undo the lies about the epidemic. I'm just saying the "love" and "respect" there that the harpies are displaying is about a half a micrometer deep and it will vanish if the autistic adults stray from their place and say the wrong thing. On the other hand parents who aren't that dedicated to quackery might really benefit from reading the posts by the autistic adults.
