So you listed pretty much everything that made my childhood with a strongly feminine mother a living hell. I still can't get into any of those things, but it's been a long ride for me to realize I was more androgynous than female, anyway. I actually like the terms: Xe, xir, and xyr, all those pronouns to stay gender neutral.
Yes, using pronouns like that is a good idea. The few non-binary people I know are driving themselves and everyone around them crazy trying to get people to use 'they', but it's just too confusing, you never know whether the word is being used as singular or plural and there are certain situations where it just doesn't work. For me, it's hard enough to hold a conversation as it is without the added stress of trying to avoid offending people simply by using the words 'his' or 'her'. I feel sorry for the families of these people and those who have to associate with them on a regular basis.
I think ideally a new set of pronouns would be invented like those you have suggested, that everyone could easily get used to using because they don't require any adjustment of grammar, they don't have any double-meanings and they can simply be substituted in place of the traditional gendered terms. With all the new 'words' being invented in the social media age such as 'lol' etc., I don't see why this couldn't happen.

O.K. So I've already bitched about the stuff that I hate but everybody else likes, but now I feel like I should go to the flipside of that with stuff that I like but everybody else hates (which was the original title of this forum, but then the first post had it reversed, but I digress).
I. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. I feel like it stuck to the book better than Willy Wonka did while at the same time having just enough differences to make it its own thing. And hey the Oompa Loompas from Charlie didn't give me nightmares like Willy Wonka's did.
II. Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. After the absolute snorefest that was At World's End, I felt like OST got back to the typical pirate adventure that I enjoyed from The Curse Of The Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest instead of dealing with stupid financial currency scandals that no one gave a flying f**k about. Plus, OST didn't have a little boy being hung at the gallows in the first 3 minutes. Seriously, AWE, what the f**k?
III. The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This is more of a selfish one as I finally got to see my favorite Spider-Man villain, Electro, up on the big screen and I really liked how they updated his appearance. The death of Gwen Stacey was really sad as I felt like she was a much better love interest for Spidey when compared to Mary Jane Watson from the Raimi trilogy and I felt like Peter's decision to quit being Spider-Man after her death was very much relatable for just about anyone. Of course, the fact that Rhino was thrown in at the last 5 minutes was dumb, but I still liked this movie better than Spider-Man 3.
IV. I'm one of the few people in my family who actually likes Horseradish Cheddar. I just really love that extra bit of kick that it has and I use it whenever possible. On crackers, on a fried egg sandwich, anywhere I can.
V. Season 3 of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. A lot of people really hate this season, particularly the finale where Twilight Sparkle ascends to become an Alicorn Princess, but I really didn't have a problem with any of that. Any argument that people make bitching about how Twilight shouldn't have become an Alicorn Princess I can easily counter with Celestia's Ballad prior to her Ascension which causes you to ask the questions "Has Twilight come a long way?", "Have we watched her from the beginning?", and "Has she made us proud of how far she's come?" I can very easily answer these questions with a solid "Yes".
VI. The very first Equestria Girls movie. While there were 82% of Bronies who thought that Alicorn Twilight was a good idea, only 46% thought that Equestria Girls was a good idea. I happen to be a part of that minority. When you get down to it, it's just a simple "fish out of water" story with a character winding up in a parallel world where she has to adjust to her new surroundings. I generally like stories like this and Twilight's interactions as she has to adjust to her new human body are hilarious. Not to mention, all the characters I grew to love from the show are still the same, just human. Even the finale, which someone compared to what it would be like if you were watching High School Musical and then it just cut to a battle in Narnia, I was able to follow and felt I had a better understanding of it where everyone else was just confused. Noted the villain, Sunset Shimmer, was pretty bad (though Principal Abacus Cinch (also know as "Ms. Snooty Bottom von Snickety b***h") from Friendship Games was even worse), but thankfully she would be given really great development in the later 2 movies as a reformed character. Even the argument that people make about how, now that these characters are human, people can have dirty thoughts about them, I'd like to paraphrase something that my buddy, Andre Meadows (AKA Black Nerd Comedy), brought up when he stated "People were already having dirty thoughts about them as ponies so get over it. I'm not condoning any of this behavior, I'm just saying that 'making them human' or 'not making them human' is not gonna stop anyone from 'Rule 34ing' all over that shiznit". And while we're on the subject of Equestria Girls...
VII. Flash Sentry (known derogatorily by the fandom as "Brad". God do I hate when people call him that). Among many of the other things people hated about the first Equestria Girls movie (and every other movie thereafter), the character of Flash Sentry seems to be the most lampooned character of any franchise I've seen in a while. Personally, though, I don't get where all the hatred for him comes from. Sure he doesn't have much in the way of a personality and he's kind of just a token typically nice guy, but, with that said, he's a typically nice guy. I found him to be a pretty decent, supportive character, always trying to help out and he was even there to stand up for Twilight when she was accused of vandalism. I was just like "Good on you, man". The way I see it, Flash Sentry is no different from any of the background characters in the show that the fandom just comes up with their own ideas as to what their personalities, likes, and even dislikes are. Flash is a blank slate for us fans to build on from the ground up and I know that I sure have a lot of ideas regarding his character. But that's just me.
VIII. Miley Cyrus. Staying on the subject of hated characters, we now come to Miley Cyrus, the former "Hannah Montana" starlet who has made countless headlines recently for her often eccentric behavior. All that I can say to this is that, while she's doing all these bizarre acts like twerking against Robin Thicke or swinging nude from a wrecking ball, she's not entirely stupid. There is a method to the madness. She seems to know how to go just far enough to get people talking about her (something essential for any celebrity's career), but not to the point where she gets incarcerated. Plus she'll even use her celebrity status to bring light to major problems in our country. An example of this is at the Video Music Awards where, after she won Video Of The Year for Wrecking Ball, instead of making the moment all about her, she let a homeless guy named Jesse accept the award and use that moment to bring attention to the 1.6 million homeless youths in America. I've had somewhat of a crush on Miley ever since she was on her dad's show, Doc, long before Hannah Montana ever happened (so you could say that I was like the "hipster Miley fan") and maybe I'm just one of those people who tries to see the good in everyone, but I still think that Miley is pretty decent enough in my book.
+1
The wind it seems, even when it's strong and really cold. Everyone I know seems to complain about it anyways, it makes me feel alive.
