I don't think anything major happened this time.

For the most part, the debate was pretty calm, cool, and collected. :D

Do you ever watch pool on TV?

We used to have it quite a bit here in the US. Not so much any more.

When I was a teenager, I had a period where I watched snooker obsessively. I was just gonna add "Yes, I know I'm weird", and then I remembered that this is actually perfectly normal on WP :)

I've never been in a place where I could just be myself before. It feels incredibly liberating.

Love this place.

Regarding lost members.

Years ago I worked with alcoholics and addicts.
There was a saying about "discussions".

A resentment and a coffee pot leads to a new meeting location.

These days it could be morphed into
A resentment and a web site
Leads to a new meeting location.

I came in while waiting for my first appointment in the process

Though I have other outlets, WP is a good addition.
I never was good at pool, basketball football or other traditional sports.
Air Hockey and table tennis on the other hand, I was extremely good.

I became pretty good at ping-pong (what US residents usually call table tennis).

When I was 7, I played knock-hockey with a psychologist. On the basis of this game, he diagnosed me as "a kid who hates to lose."

 If you're a hammer......

I suck at every thing requiring manual dexterity. I am the curse of every ball game.

The other day, a dentist told me it's important that parents brush their kids' teeth because the kids often have poor fine motor skills. I'm telling you, it's not like that at my house.....I feel like a torturer.

I know what you mean.

When my mother used to brush my hair as a kid, I felt like I was being "tortured," too.

It's hard being a parent. But the teeth must be brushed; otherwise, they'll be many cavities!

Yes, I would have a hard time with this myself!

I have general motor problems, but because of therapy I walk straighter than most people with normal motor skills.Though my writing can be compared to a doctor's because it's barely understandable.

There is the widely promoted and often debunked idea that anyone can become an expert if they practice enough. The common number given is 10,000 hours.

I play Table Tennis with my partner, we have a park close with vandal resistant concrete tables, it seems we can only match each others styles though, recently trying to play with different partners on a proper table brought back all the frustration I used to have with any bat and/or ball games.

I used to play pool too, a long time back. I used to pull off the most amazing complicated shots and then miss the easy ones. If I actually concentrated on what I was doing, I would often miss the ball completely.

I can't catch things.

I also have terrible left vs. right hand coordination, which means I can't throw anything two handed. Back in the day I could do a perfect 3-point throw but with just my right arm, but shooting hoops alone of course, since I can't do a proper game. Likewise I drive one-handed because my left and right just don't play well.

You know, I can't sing and clap simultaneously? Even though I'm muscial enough, it just involves too much coordination. I can play piano, but not use my hands to direct. It really doesn't make sense. Perhaps I'm just rythmically challenged.

I played softball in my teen years and I never became a pro at it or a professional. I was a fair player. I never hit any home runs or hit the ball far out in the field or could get myself to react quick enough or run fast enough. I did track for two years and I sucked at it but it was still fun. I always believed in practice makes perfect, a saying. I also got good at jump rope too and hoola hooping as a kid. I used to suck at those and I kept on practicing. But I have known some NTs who also suck in sports and one of them told me she can't even catch a ball. But just where do you drawn the line for when someone just simply sucks in sports than having poor coordination? Aspies are known to suck in sports due to poor coordination. But that is a myth because someone can be a pro at basketball and be on the spectrum or be a pro at something that is a sport and be on the spectrum but is it still possible to be clumsy?

Really? What about all the autistics in the developing world? Do they not have autism because they don't have access to a diagnosis? This does not make sense.

Of course it doesn't. Unfortunately, this whole thread basically boils down to this one inane position, and everyone collectively going "wtf?" at it.

I can agree with the OP so far as it is semantically considered. In other words, I suspect that almost everyone would agree that an autistic individual isn't diagnosed as autistic unless and until the individual is diagnosed as autistic. Granted, this is a self-evident qualification, but I have never even been told about a non-autistic individual who has developed his or her autism falsely. I see "no there, there." Where is the evidence that there are individuals claiming their autism falsely? ANY identified fakers? Show me the evidence that this faking exists.
I asked Sonic a few pages ago to produce written evidence, other than his own words, that says that people do not have a condition until they are diagnosed with it. I am still waiting for that evidence.

I was wondering that exact thing. I was really hoping that you were not feeling bad because of it. But WP has been having this conversation for years. It's always a mess.

This question is stemming from a question asked on another thread. If someone gets an official diagnosis and asks that a diagnostic report not be written for whatever reason, is that person diagnosed?
