I've also learned the hard way, putting a lot of thought into writing something and then losing it when I've clicked 'submit'.

Now, if I write a particularly long post, I always try to remember to press Ctrl + A to select all, and then Ctrl + C to copy to the clipboard before submitting. That way, even if there's a timeout and it seems lost, I can refresh or open a new window and Ctrl + V to paste it. It doesn't work if it's completely crashed, or the whole window has ceased responding, but if it's just a timeout or other glitch, then it should work. Saves a lot of frustration.

Just thought I'd better remind myself where it is that we're going to meet up for the long weekend from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June! :D

Avignon: This building faces practically onto the major tourist site of the Palais des Papes. I love how the french do this.

Note how almost everybody is sitting or standing in the shade; this is not an accident! :D

I normally go on holidays to *escape* the sun, rather than chase it, but I'm in it for the people this time. Also, the pictures of Avignon look exactly like home, which is actually nice - I feel very comfortable in places which remind me of home.

I actually copy long posts to new e-mail messages, before posting them, so they remain intact even if my browser crashes.

I posted some of my music to the "Art, Writing, and Music" forum:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt94462.html

It is very different from what I'm playing these days, though.

Nine weeks to go! :D

Nine weeks until I meet ManErg, Morgana, KenG, Raggle-Taggle-Gypsy and maybe/probably, ( depending on finances, exam dates, other commitments ), Lotusblossom, EnglishLulu, Seashell, GeomAsp, and Darth Maxeuis, ( and maybe a few of the other people who voted in the poll ... ? ). Thursday 28/Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June.

Anyone else who likes the idea of a long weekend/4 or 5 night break in Avignon, ( central Southern France ), meeting other WP'ers while enjoying the café-terraces and beautiful old buildings of an ancient walled city on a river, with parks/gardens, and tiny cobbled streets, big squares shaded by venerable platane trees, etc, is very welcome. :D

So far everyone coming is staying at the Etap Hotel in the centre, near the old walls and not far from the station, at 44€ per ensuite-room per night, ( or 53€ for two sharing ), but there are three campsites very close to the centre, next to the river, for people on smaller budgets/who prefer a tent.

For anyone else who hasn't yet booked a flight from the UK, but has been wavering due to budget restrictions as to whether they can afford it or not, check out the Ryanair website, there is a sale on at the moment, and some of the flights to Marseille and Montpellier are from 5 pounds (depending on availability), so this might make it affordable for some more people. (Remember there's the cost of getting to Avignon on the train though, and the hotel and spending money. But there are potentially bargain flights out there to be had! :)

Thanks for the heads up. That might apply to the Ryanair flights to Nimes too then, which is only about 7 - 10 € from Avignon by train, ( + airport shuttle bus 5€ ).

Should we announce the Avignon meeting also on the French-Aspie forum ( http://forum.satedi.org/ ) and on the German-Aspie forums ( http://aspies.de/forum/ & http://www.asperger-forum.de/ ) ?

I don't have any problems with that idea Ken, I'd be happy for you to do it, sounds like a good idea. :)

Mais mon Français est très limité, und mein Deutch ist selbst mehr begrenzt als mein Französisch :(
It would be better if people who actually speak these languages announce the Avignon meeting to those forums.
(For example, I believe ouinon speaks French and morgana speaks German. There may be other participants who speak one, or both, of these languages).

On the other hand announcing it in English, after a nice friendly greeting in french/german, would make sure that people from those forums who did come would be able to talk to everybody else. :?:
