Adrian Monk is supposed to be an Aspie. And did anyone see that episode where some law students tried to get him his badge back under some Act, and he deliberately failed the test...because he didn't want to be labelled as 'disabled'. That suggested to me that there's an Aspie on the script-writing team somewhere, pushing their Aspie Pride thing! (And good on 'em, I say!)

I love Monk.

Anyway, I'd put Monk on more of a mid functioning autistic level. He totally can't function without his partner (Sharona or Natalie.)

I'm sort of sad the show's over now...

AARRGGHH!! ! Spoilers!! ! Please remove that last statement! The last season hasn't reached New Zealand yet!
Well did you really think he wouldn't? Just torrent it anyway.

Oh fine.

Pixel from Lazytown. He rarely goes out, preferring his special interest of computers, utilising them in every way. Is very knowlegable about his interest, even to the point of using computer terms to describe everyday things.

(ironically, I didn't notice AS traits until I read something on LazyWiki suggesting it)

Robbie Rotten- hypersensitive to noise, hates children, limited wardrobe, known to stim.

Arnold Horshack from the American TV series "Welcome Back Kotter" (1975-79) seemed to some degree of the Autism Spectrum. Although it was revealed one of the last episodes that his mother had dropped him on his head as an infant, so that may have had something to do with it.

He was the smartest student in the class, and got transfered to a more advanced class, but came back because the new class was outside of his comfort zone.

His wheezing hyena type laugh was the same kind of laugh that I had back when I was in Jr High. Teachers would make fun of me when I got the giggles, so I learned not to laugh.

I compare Aspies with Vulcans rather often.

Vulcans, when confornted with emotions, although they know they should repress them, can't handle them either.

Most of the time they are pure logic, until emotion takes over in extreme and unexpected ways.

Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena might be an aspie - bullied and misunderstood by the other students, prefers the company of animals to people, doesn't change facial expressions much, has a slightly monotonous voice (though that could just be the work of an inexperienced voice actor). Doesn't seem to really be obsessed with anything, although you could make a case for her having a "people obsession" towards Utena.

Steve Urkel from Family Matters- The way he pursued Laura
Terrance from Sydney White- Barely talks, hyperfocuses on formulas, doesn't sence other people's excitement
Abed from Community- It's been suggested by another character that he has Asperger's, but never officially diagnosed

They have also mentioned Sara Sidle, another character on the same show (and now Grissom's love interest) as a possible Aspie: Struggles with relationships with her co-workers and men, has bad posture (people keep thinking she's pregnant because of the way she stands with her stomach stickng out.

That's an AS trait?

Interesting you should say that.

I have the habit of standing with my spine in an exaggerated S-curve with my lower belly stuck out and my head and neck folded forward on to my chest. I don't tend to realize I do it.

Only one that comes to my mind is Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She's uncommonly intelligent, great with computers, but is very asocial and doesn't express emotions well.

Some that haven't been mentioned.

Movies:

Seymour from the movie Ghost World (I can't remember if he was in the graphic novel or not) is probably one of the most autistic movie characters ever.
Why: Horrible social skills: When Enid and Rebbecca first meet him he goes on a tangent about jazz oblivious to their obvious boredom, "Let the machine get it, I have no desire to talk to anyone who might be calling me."
obsessions: (main one being jazz records): "You think it's healthy to obsessively collect things? You can't relate to other people, so you fill your life with stuff. I'm just like all these other collector losers."
oblivious to pop culture: "I guess I must have missed that one. But then what do I know. I like Laurel and Hardy movies."

Nói from Nói Albínói and maybe his dad who obsessed with Elvis
Why: Poor social skills: Obvious when he first meets Íris
Disinterest in most social relationships; has only one friend (who also seems autistic-ish)
Sort of off in his own world most of the time

People have mentioned Amélie Poulain and I totally agree, and I think her boyfriend/her dad/the grocer guy/the glass bones guy (i.e almost every character in the movie) also have some ASD too

Books:

Francie Nolan from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
Why: Didn't like to play with others kids
Obsessed with reading; she wanted to read every book in the library in alphabetical order
Very interested in details, good memory, introspective
Has sort of weird thought processes: has a lot of strange observations, at the point in the book when she learn America entered the war she tries to mentally record the most minute details of everything in her surroundings at that exact moment in time

Almost every Ayn Rand protagonist

TV:

Robot Jones from Whatever Happened to Robot Jones, yeah he's a robot but whatever

Like every character from the show Pete and Pete

I second this. When I saw how passionate he is about movies, and how he acts like he feels he needs to bring it up in every conversation, that really made me suspect him of being an aspie. Bonus points for him being socially awkward.

There is a Wikipedia page for this sort of thing. I wonder why you keep making these threads.

I'm thinking that Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place seems to fit.
