- You remember things that nobody else remember. While talking, you may say : "Hey remember 1 year ago, you told me that.....", and it seems perfectly normal to you that you remember exactly that specific thing, but it's not because it was a trivial thing. Or you may speak about very small details that you've seen 2 years ago, and speak about it as if everybody remembered it !

I used to have a perfect memory of what people said, but they always disagreed with me and argued with me when I quoted them back, so I lost that talent. I wished I still had it when I took went into journalism. I think I might be getting it back and I've al;ways been able to remember things better than other people do.

... you're intensely bothered by the repeated topics here on wp, the lack of an index, and the fact that there are too many discussion threads to conceivably read them all

... you just stared at your wall for fifteen minutes because a shadow appeared to be spreading (like an ink blot) .. and you're well-rested and sober.

... you have a regular restaurant, and even though the waiter knows what you order, you still can't discern whether or not he recognizes you

... you really hope people think "rock star" instead of "autistic" when you wear your sunglasses in the supermarket

I am so glad you mentioned this!! !! This has been a huge mystery for me ever since I was a little kid. I'd see this and not know why I was seeing it. I'm glad to know it's an AS trait, especially since I'm newly dx'd. So much is starting to make sense to me now....all the puzzle pieces are finally fitting together after 33 years.

That is so common. My experience exactly except mine was 47 years.

I work in a supermarket, and I like when customers wear sunglasses because it's easier for me to "look them in the eye" which my boss tells me to do. So I probably wouldn't think either "rock star" or "autistic", more like "Hey that's someone I could get along with".

- if your mom sometimes calls you crazy, yet when you call her that once, she tells you that's insulting (although you don't really understand the difference, since she calls you crazy too)

-If you don't like girl's things and you're a girl. (dressing up, using cosmetics, etc.)

-If you'd rather spend your day locked up in your room than going out to the mall

-If you don't understand why some people act the way they do, and to you, they're different, but not you.

It's something I only saw as a kid when the lights were off and I was in bed, so maybe my eyes were just tired then... thankfully I haven't seen it since so perhaps that was the reason. Even so it was interesting to see you mention that. :)

I still see formless shadows that flow across my vision after I turn off the light. It seems to go away after my eyes adapt to the fully to the dark, so I think it's somthing to do with how our eyes dark-adapt.

I don't think that is an aspie thing, NT-ers need to adapt to the dark too before they can see in the dark. (Heard a story about soemone abusing it while playing hide-and-seek when I was still at primary school)

Yes, I agree with that. It was just my observation about my experience. I am new here and enjoy getting feedback that helps me figure out what is going on with me - whether it is something I share with NT's or an Aspie thing - thanks!
