What's wrong with medication? Is it the side effects?

Sometimes I forget to take it and Then I get mood swings all day. If I no longer need medication, I dont have to worry about rembering it.

Normally its my brother playing his music too loud, and my family understands that it may bother me more than it bothers them. But they know that (And I know they're right) there are some things in life that will bother me and I need to learn to deal with it.

My parents WILL help me with other things that bother me, (like if a party is getting too oud they will help me find a quiet place to hang out) but they wont forbid my brother from listning to music.

That's ridiculous. Even my own mother can't stand loud music or loud TVs so she always told us to turn it down. No one needs to play their music loud, and it's bad for your ears anyway. Would ear plugs work?

One of my neighbors plays his music loud and I wouldn't be surprised if someone tells him to turn it down. One time he was playing it in the middle of the night and it was making the walls and windows rattle in my apartment I went banging on his door and he never answered it. The next day I complained to my landlords about it and I told them I did try knocking on his door but he wouldn't answer. He probably had it on so loud he couldn't hear it or he ignored it. He has hasn't played it that loud ever since so I assume she must have talked to him about it. I also wonder if the other neighbors complained to her too about it. So he still plays it but it's not all loud and it's not rattling the windows and walls. Loud base just bothers me and my brains and I don't think I should put up with it in my own home (no one should), out in public is different because well it doesn't last long and that person with the loud music in their car drives away so it's only for few minutes. I heard it's illegal here in Oregon to play the music very loud in your car and if you can hear it from a certain feet, an officer can pull them over if they hear it.

Can you take it still if your forgot to?

Find solutions - if his music is loud, wear headphones or earplugs. We can't control the actions of others, only our responses to them.

Your brother should wear earphones if he's going to play his music so loud it disturbs the rest of the house. That's only common courtesy and it has little to do with whether he's got an autistic sibling or not.

"Getting used to" things doesn't happen very easily, nor does it happen just by exposure. Usually the best way to tolerate craziness is to have an overall low-stress life.

You show a startling amount of insight for somebody diagnosed with aspergers, i'm glad you can understand the actions of your family and the fact you need to learn to cope with the world. Sadly avoidance is the best strategy for things that annoy you, if something is too loud ear-plugs will come in handy. If it's too bright out-side then sunglasses will be needed. Repeated exposure to things you dislike, in a safe-environment can also help.

Currently there's no cure for autism, I think the best so far is learning strategies to cope with problems.

We have an alarm set for my son to take his meds. Our primary stipulation for the medications was that they not make him a "zombie", and that we were not medicating him to "make him normal". We are only giving him meds to help his moods be more stable and to enhance his appetite because he developed an eating disorder living with his father.

We are none of us normal.

The only time I want a cure is when I see a good looking boy. Ahh well, I'm just going to have to work on my communication and relationship skills.

Research has shown that Autism can be cured with liberal applications of alcohol. Simply ingest large amounts of alcohol in any desirable form such as Cointreau or Ale, and Voila' your Autism is cured toot sweet ! !! !! !

Won't taking a depressant interfere with my ANTI-depressants?

nope, just make you drunk more quickly.
i do like the temporary cure aka. alcohol but it can also backfire because i tend to say too much.

"antidepressant" refers to "against depression".

"Depressant" refers to "depresses the activity of the central nervous system"--an overall slowing effect.

The physiological effects of a depressant are not the opposite of an anti-depressant, however their names might sound like opposites.

Drinking while you're depressed is still a bad idea, though. Alcohol tends to accentuate emotions that are already present, and you don't want the emotions you're getting when you're depressed to be any more pronounced than they already are. It also makes you a lot more vulnerable to alcoholism; some people even think that alcoholism can be seen as a form of depression.

(Oh, and it doesn't cure autism. The positive effect many autistics have from alcohol is the lowered inhibitions, which tend to reduce social anxiety. Of course, social anxiety disorder is a comorbid mental illness, not a part of autism itself, and can be treated with therapy and medication.)
