Its the representation of a completely useless and unique item with no usefulness in the world. Except for one exact defining trait - the ability to click, be tactically interesting, or provide soothing mental relief.

EX : Bubble padding, musical quarters, fuzzy dice.

Or in the true sense - just you doing a repetitive motion over and over. Sort of like myself and my teeth, or arms - if people hung out with me enough they'd notice it.

Perhaps I'm off base. But I perceive it as the manifestation of anxiety in physical form. (My big one is origami. I can't focus without working on something with my hands.)

Here's a thread that explains it all, with a title that is remarkably similar to your question: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt7413.html

I wish I was obsessesed about doing laundry... just about every article of clothing I own, my husband owns, and my children own are dirty waiting to be laundered. Mental note: Never rent a place where the washer/dryer hookup is in a creepy basement infested with jumping spiders.

I do that with South Park episodes. Someone might bring up something in a conversation that parallels a South Park plot in some way, and i'll say "it's like that one episode of South Park when ____________" or just blurt out a relevant South Park quote and then end up having to explain it if no one knows what it's from. I've noticed that i do this a lot. And i like South Park very much, but i'm really not obsessed with it or anything... I just tend to relate things to it just about every day, i can't help it.

It's aspie cool to...
- like nonfiction
- understand technology and computers better than social situations
- spend a quiet weekend in your room while everyone else is out partying
- celebrate your birthday online
- stay up late engaged in a solitary activity you enjoy
- have numerous collections, including collections of random things no one would ever think of collecting
- dress in an eccentric way and not care about what everyone else thinks

Cool tools topic

Use the close captioned function to read all the dialogue instead of listening to it.

Out-thrifting a bragging NT.

Persuade a social worker via a letter that i need help with utility expenses (an honest request).

Discover that my tutoring has helped a student to improve at least one full grade level (eg, a C to a B).

I don't have anything cool to post though, how do you know if something is cool or not?

Reading non fiction and not watching T.V aren't exactly unusual things.

It's Aspie cool to...

...ask how you can know if something is cool or not.

:)

Justcurious, I'm glad you asked. Many Aspies may be wondering what this thread means, because the idea of this thread was never described explicitly by me or anyone else. I just gave 2 examples so people would know what game I meant from the examples.

The idea is: here on WP we've sooo created a new, different world, with Aspie characteristics, that we even have our preferences as to who is the most interesting Aspie or the most interesting topics of conversations or the most interesting pastimes, interests, habits, etc. Some of those agreements on what's worth talking about, what's interesting, etc. have become so popular and well-liked by most on here, that I started calling them (jokingly) "cool traits of Aspies". Eg: If you talk about obsessive interests with NTs, it won't make you look cool to them but weird. Whereas if you discuss obsessive interests on WP, you're seen as interesting (aka cool).

Does that make sense?
