As Maggiedoll mentioned on the first page, the comedy of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David perfectly capture the issues even NTs have with this. There's the 'close talker' the 'stop and chat' both things are avoided and treated with distain.

I've read through all the posts and can relate to every one of them, there's few environments that are quite that awkward, the close proximity, the fact you are walking towards each other and the whole 'what am I supposed to do but still get on with my day' paradox.

Yeah, i have noted the same.

The worst is when you see people a second time - like co-workers - how often do you have to say hi? Each time, the first two. Should i try to be witty (this never works.)

I've asked the same question. Someone actually stopped me, and asked if I didn't know how to say 'hi'. But I did say hi, at least when I first saw them that morning.
