You peoples are the only ones that know. :)

People I've known have suggested I look into Aspergers and perhaps get a diagnosis but discussions with them have been limited and occurred a while in the past.

To be honest I'm not sure whether I "have it" or not. A good reason to seek out a diagnosis.

The perspectives of Aspie's have been the only one's I have ever identified with. Finding out other people experience situations and thought processes similarly is in itself a huge relief. WrongPlanet is a great wealth of experience, comfort and curiosity.

If I figure out how to go through with the diagnostic process and get a legal diagnosis it's most likely not something that will be paraded around. My immediate family will know and of course my friends but the general public can figure it out for themselves. It's not something I'd hide but not necessarily something that defines who I am.

The general public seem to understand it pathologically, as some sort of disorder. It makes me anxious to think people could cease to relate to me as if I were just another person. It would be awful if people thought "mental disorder" when we interacted. It might also be professional suicide.

Suppose time will tell.

My small group of close friends mostly, but occasionally I will tell people...I am not ashamed of it..and I guess I am noticeable enough in my traits at times that people will assume there is something up with me, so I might as well let them know.
Somebody asked me if I was last night...but I had already blurted it out to her partner in the past, so maybe he told her...But I was conversing without making eye-contact and making references to my toe walking and I think she had worked a bit with autistic children..and knows something about it.

I've told some of my friends, but usually I don't like to tell people. Most of my teachers in school and also my family know because my parents have informed people of the diagnosis.

Some people know that I have Asperger's, but don't realize that it's a form of autism

Lemme see here, my immediate family, some out of state relatives (not all of them, given the the excluded ones' self-centered natures), and some of my mother's friends (since a few are associated with Autism support groups . . . however, they are all recent given my official DX in November 2008).

Quite a few people. I'm open about it. My best friend knows about it. So do my bosses at work. I also told a girl I thought liked me. She felt terrible about sending the wrong signals, so I explained that I can't tell the difference between a girl liking me as a friend and a girl liking me as more than friends because I have Asperger's. Yesterday I met Sarah Palin at a book signing I told her that I have autism.

I did tell an MP at a conservative party some time ago about my AS since he has an autistic son.Hes and Edmonton Member of Parliament.
