Question about being Child-like
Anybody else have this?
Yeah, I kinda do that too; cause animals relax me in a way that humans (obviously) don't.
I especially love guinea pigs and cats.

I get overwhelmed with a lot of respsoniblities, I hate fighting when someone is about to start an arguement I freak out and I walk away. I notice my mom or family does that mainly the older adults. I noticed and people told me I wander a lot. I always play with kid toys, watch kid movies, talk "baby" talk or kid language, I cry when I do something wrong or think, I have had a few yelling tantrums. I was never into the teenager ways or now the young adult, for drinking, drugs, partying, clubs. I don't like that. I did try alcohol because my friends did it but never again. I kind of just drank it like a drink reallly didn't understand it all. I always have people treat my like a child from how I act.
I actually hate cartoons. I am 20 but act younger. I get distracted easily and go to where I am or just get into the zone of the distraction.
I also have trouble descibing how I feel or what I am trying to describe either I can't it out or don't have the words to describe what I am trying to say.
For me I always say mommy, wuv ( i wuv you), bye byes, stuff like that people say are child-like. I never even knew what child-like was, or that I did it till people pointed it out. I like who I am.
When I was your age, I didn't know I was childlike...for one thing..while I was sheltered in some ways, I was experienced in others..I had been in a band since I was 15, and i was sort of the ward of my band. I had, at that point, already been in a relationship for almost 5 years...and my quirks were generally accepted/ignored by that group...I was the singer...I was supposed to be weird...
I realized it when I got my first job....and realized how naive I was compared to the other people my age and younger...and people who worked with me were overheard saying that I seemed more like a 12 year old than a 20 year old....I had a couple of tantrums here and there...I was tactless and clueless, and didn't know I was doing anything wrong....
I was disconcerting to other more jaded and worldly employees...who were sometimes hostile towards me and I didn't understand why... I had one co-worker think I was was patronizing her and treating her like a child because she was very short and thin...when really, I was just being myself...she would mock me among her other peers...
I ended up developing a little bit of a mask for a while...when I later got an office job...but later on, once I got out on my own, it sorta shattered...being childlike is not something I am gonna grow out of..I will always present to people as being innocent and naive...even though I am 34 and have been around the block a little bit...
Particularly when I am around people I have a hard time relating to...I especially switch into "little girl" mode... Withdrawn and speak..when spoken to unless distracted by say...and aquarium or some toy...and then I will pass the time playing with that...rather than engage in "adult" socializing...
I can sorta whine and get cranky like a child...
I go out with my parents every week...and I feel no different than I did when I was young...

When I am with my two cats, I am really attached and know how their feeling, thinking, and it's cool to be able to have a schedule with my cat tyler. He knows when I am ready to go to bed and we meet each other in my bedroom, talk to him, and give him rubs.
I actually didn't know I was child-like till this year when my sister brought it up. So, I asked my mom and she said yeah in most ways you are, and I was like yeah but I can engage in conversations like an adult and have adult opinions and such.
I know my child-like self is never going to leave, which I am cool with.
I like a few things that clearly proves I'm not child-like;
- I dislike going to circus, carnival, the zoo, etc.
- I like to bash celebrities.
- I have a very perverted mind.
- I'm interested in fashion, especially seeing people on the runway.
- I don't feel sympathy when a cat, dog gets brutally driven over on the street.

Well, I've never seen a child be fond of seeing a dog being run over by a truck, my niecesaw it, and the reaction wasn't that good, and no children enjoy seeing people walk the ramp, aka, having a child's mind is not healthy.

You should be very happy that there's little chance of you walking on the street while I'm around driving a car.

Coincidence on 34th street.
I believe I am a bit of both ends of this spectrum. I am extremely responsible, good with money, and can care for all the things that adults do. In many ways I am more "mature" than the average adult in these terms. But I also have many child-like interests like board games and cartoons.
I think I am percieved by others as being child-like. I have an air of sweet innocence about me. This attitude can also be picked up by people who like to use and abuse naivety, unfortunately.

I feel more than sympathy when i see something like that..I am absolutely traumatized by it.
I still have vivid access in my mind to what few experiences I have with seeing it...and I do not wish to see it again...when I do see it, it can mess me up for days.
But that is besides the point.
Some children can be very cruel and unsympathetic about things. Some children abuse animals....
That is why I said that feeling no sympathy for seeing an animal being run over in the street did not exclude you from having a childlike mind....in fact, your phrasing of the things that you said made you "not childlike"....was very childlike.
I don't like going to the circus either...not now, and never as a child...
Also, plenty of children are capable of having perverted minds...none of the things you listed prove that you don't have a childlike mind.

I was never child-like, even as a child and behaved much more like an adult in so many ways. Now as an adult I don't feel entirely adult-like either. My interests now are quite child-like in many respects. I collect certain beautiful kinds of toys that I like, quite a lot of them (though I don't think I would know what to do if I were expected to play with them/they are just fun for me to collect and I find them cheerful and quite beautiful by the one's I collect), and Children's Classic movies and loads of animation DVD's but also other older classic films because there is less violence, sex and that sort of thing which I don't like to watch or deal with.
And I also like to take good care of my two cats. They feel well nurtured and taken care of and are always happy and contented. People who are cold and cruel to animals are especially offensive and are probably psychopaths. It really gives me the creeps to know there are people out there who are like that but I guess you can't get away from it no matter where you go.

I feel exactly the same on all these issues, too. Life is too brutal sometimes and I do everything I can to steer away from it, but you can never really get away from it because it's everywhere. I don't think he is child-like though. I think he is insensitive and maybe even cruel.
