To be honest I never knew the world had even started...

I, as a Christian, think that the Endtimes are already here, since it predicts exactly what it will be like in the End. It's kind of weird how in the last hundred or so years that there have been more wars as well as more deaths in wars than the entire history of the world. In the Bible it says that in the End there will be wars and rumors of wars, and that there are so many things about what the Bible says about the End that are coming true that, at least for me, it's hard to not believe that the Endtimes aren't already here.

I like to think of the earth as a single living organism, subject to the same forces of death, decay and rebirth that all living things experience. At some point, we will experience the end of the world as we know it ... politically, socially, disease, loss of essential resources, meteoric catastrophe, famine, nuclear annihiliation -- who knows what it will be? But the earth will continue on and life in some form will prevail, at least until our sun explodes.

I agree that talk of the 'end times' is a longstanding human mechanism for trying to make sense out of the unknown.

My life has been miserable for the past 2 years because I am scared the world is coming to an end. It's become an obsession.

Asteroids (One coming close in 2029, although its not big enough to blow the rest of the world up)

Mayan calendar (2012 is the end)

Prophecy Of The Popes (Benedict is the 2nd to the last)

War (well what is new? You go look in any history book and you'll find that war is just nonstop. People are immature losers and enjoy fighting over stuff. So we get it constantly)

Revelations

Israel

I think the end of the human race will come eventually (given what we think we know of the universe atm this is a given, expanding and all-- sun eventually dying out, evolving into something else, etc.). But as for whether or not we will end up killing each other off, I can't tell. I'd definitely think it's possible. But I really hope it doesn't come to that. At least not while I and my loved ones are alive. And if that happens, I hope we don't take the rest of the planet with us in some nuclear explosion or something. I'd want the earth to get back to the nonhuman existence of life. What we've managed to do to it isn't fair, especially then to take everything else down with us.

I doubt that humans currently have the capacity to destroy themselves. Even if a full scale nuclear war broke out, enough people would survive in bunkers, mines and isolated regions to be able to repopulate, and although it would be incredibly harsh, humans are tough; we've learned to live in places that even the cockroaches can't handle.

Life's a bit crappy, which is why I'm back to torture you all. My dog died, and it's kind of lonely around here now. It snowed yesterday and I made a snow dog, but it wasn't the same, and it's melted now anyway. :(

I don't think the world is going to end quite yet. I sure hope not and I also fear it. I don't want to world to end yet I have so many things that I want to have done. I want to see space flights to Mars or other planets. I want to see coloneys on the Moon. I don't want the world to end before that comes.
