That's a bad analogy. The two are known to have different causes. Actually, that is why they are moving Rett's off the spectrum--because we know it has a different cause. (I do not believe there is any sense in excluding Rett's girls and their families from the autism community, though, especially as their autistic traits are so very similar to those that come from plain unknown-genetic-cause autism.)

Huh, yeah, I am. Almost forgot about that site. I just checked; I have 37 posts. So not nearly as much as I come here, needless to say.

My family and I have always used the terms Asperger's and High-Functioning Autism interchangeably, so it's no skin off my nose. Figuratively speaking, of course.

The DSM standard, impairments in three fields, let the cat out of the bag.

That may be official disability grade, but there are a lot more with two impairments, or one.

That community is much larger, DSM rejects, but still share in our world.

Broader Autism Phenotype is a minority intellectual culture, geek and nerd do not fit.

BAP has gained an identity, it is not just you, 10% of people are like you.

Most of Wrong Planet is autistic, and most are not disabled.

This is a very strong bond to form a cult around.
