My super power is communicating with animals and I've known this since I was a toddler.

there could be something about cold still air that confines one's gases in a small area. but for some reason, my farts would not obey my wishes to stay in my pants or even in one spot behind me as i stood in the corner hoping nobody would walk by. when i was in elementary school one cold winter day, on the schoolbus my beans would not behave [previous night's chili not agreeing with me], and i tried to hold it in but it oozed out, and within seconds, wafting on the warm air from the heater, the aroma caused the kids around me to commence puking. together, the gas and the vomit turned the schoolbus into a teargas chamber, and kids were rolling down the windows for relief, and the cold air pissed-off the bus driver who yelled, "roll up those god-damned windows!" but then after the windows were rolled-up there were more emanations so the stink rose up as well, so it was only a little while before the driver yelled "roll down those god-damned windows!" my mother had a saying, "farts travel down one's pantlegs, meet at the ankles and say good-bye."
as for catching farts in a jar, large methane capture firms do just that with pigs and cows, their emanations power the farms. eminently practical.
i have no animal powers, especially with dogs who are always snapping at me. but cats sniff me like catnip and then jump all over me. i don't know why, as i am not a cat person.

If we're talking about hypothetical super powers then mine is the ability to mimic other people personalities. It's also known as a coping mechanism, but let's call it a superpower. Whenever I like someone, I tend to sort of be able to "become" that person when I've been around them long enough. It's the only way I learned how to socialize, by copying the most popular people.

Other superpower include:
The ability to see sounds, also known as synethesia
The ability to overreact
The ability to entertain myself for days on end, by myself
The ability to tell someone the truth, when nobody else can

Oh yeah, mimicry. I can listen to a sound and then instantly whistle or hum or sing at the same frequency. I've not really found a good use for this yet.

I know things are going to happen before they do. I also dream of things years before they happen. I could feel people's "auras" since birth. People in my family could communicate with the dead for generations so no one has ever really disbelieved me.

sounds like perfect pitch to me. this can be useful [musicians use it to tune instruments sans pitch-pipe reference] but it can also be a curse. one always is the first to hear a musical "clam."

I can make beer disappear then reappear, all over the floor and down my shirt.

People think I'm innocent so it gives me the ability to say rude things and get away with it.

I can become invisible, but only when nobody's looking.

Is that what that is? Oh thanks. Maybe I should take up an instrument again. Although having perfect pitch didn't seem to help me write engaging songs. I think it's more of a technical skill. I suppose there's no use for it, as anyone who wanted to know the exact pitch of something and reproduce it would just use a computer or a machine of some sort.

Yeah, I haven't found a good use for my visual memory either.

The reason I started this thread was that I was talking with my psychiatrist and my therapist (I suggested that they meet with me together to save time so I don't have to repeat myself), and the therapist was talking about the move to move Asperger's out of the autism dx in the new DSM, and how some mother of an autie in Vermont has publicly talked about how her son has some amazing ability (can't remember what it is) and she's trying to publicize how we auties are special and that the world needs to recognize how we can benefit it, rather than look at us as mutants who need special education. I.e. she's on our side. So any way, my point is, it would be nice if we could actually find good uses for our superpowers.

Perhaps we all need a mom like her to figure out how we can use our special abilities aka superpowers to make the world a better place.

I was thinking that the CIA could probably use my visual memory, but I don't have the ability to figure out how to do that. Like, does one write a letter to them and tell them "I can do blah blah blah, do you want to hire me?" I don't think it exactly works that way. But maybe an NT with a better understanding of how these things work or someone with better executive functioning is able to help. I just don't know. In the meantime, I'll continue at my job which is crippling me with anxiety and not taking advantage of any of my good qualities...
