I DESPISE shopping for clothes. My best bet is to find a friendly female NT (emphasis on "friendly") and let her guide me. I do put my foot down, though, and refuse to wear anything that isn't "me."

I am a t-shirt and jeans/sweats kind of person, but sometime I have to dress up (something NTs call "business casual," and if THAT'S casual, I wonder how fancy the next level up is???). I learned that if you buy 4 pairs of pants and 4 shirts and they all go with each other, you can make sixteen outfits! I stick with three basic colors: black, gray, and red. They are acceptable clothes for females, but not particularly "feminine."

For normal everyday wear, though, it's t-shirt, sweats/jeans, and a baseball cap.

Probably once or twice per year. I get most of my clothing as gifts. I also continue to wear clothes from when I was a teenager. I usually restrict clothes shopping to when clothing begins to wear out between holidays... at which time, I will often purchase multiple copies of the same article of clothing.

I don't know if there's a right or wrong answer to the question. Clothes shopping varies so much based on gender and their occupation, the climate where they live, clothes that might be required for their hobbies. For some people, shopping is a social activity (whereas others might hang out with their peers in bars or at the gym). Some folks enjoy fashion.
There might be some good books out there. "How to Have Style" by Isaac Mizrahi.
I have too many clothes, but lately I mostly wear my gray corduroy pants and black tshirts.

unless it's a print t-shirt or a nice dress outfit for a special occasion, my first stop when clothes shopping is the clearance section.

I will not spend a lot of money on clothes; I won't.

I did plunk down $80 for a leather jacket, but I really, really wanted one.

Do I eventually plan on plunkin' down the benjamins for Armani jackets and potentially a top hat? Absotutely! But they're totally fa-boooooooo! Worth, it too!

I pretty much wear the same thing each week (comfortable, easy to move in, not flashy since some colors just hurt the eyes). If i have to buy new clothes, its because the usual ones wore out to the point of not being publicly acceptable (holes, tears, etc). So, i may buy a new change of clothes once every few years depending on what I grow out of, or wear out (which is funny because my mother always bought clothes and i could never understand why i needed so many).
