Actually Walmart caters to idiots regardless of race, color, creed or national origin.

Linky to People of Walmart Site.

Though I'd probably go there more often if I could see people like this: Go here(link).

But like this (link)? Not so much.

:lmao: Well , noise, crowds, and over-stimulation aside, I always feel like a beauty queen when I go into Walmart.

The harsh reality is that they're far from the only offender and may actually not even be the worst. They're only the biggest. Certainly if you walk into a Home Depot or a Lowe's and see a tool or lawnmower with a brand name you've never heard of before, for what looks like a really good price, you can be sure it came from the same sort of place. I can't imagine there's an American national or even regional retailer that doesn't do everything Walmart does, and may have suppliers doing it under even worse conditions since they don't get the publicity of Walmart. (Target, Sears/K-Mart (same owner now), Kohls, Best Buy, Dick's, and on and on. Either they ape Walmart or they go out of business.)

Hell, I bought a bottle of Apple Juice the other day at a supermarket I think only has stores in the Northeastern US (Stop & Shop) and even THAT had "product of China" on the label. WTF?

Edit: - My anal nature comes to the forefront again. Had to look this up. Stop & Slop is a wholly owned subsidiary of a Dutch conglomerate called Ahold. Weird that they own four or five different supermarket chains in the USA and six in Europe, all with different names. I mean, if you're going to be a gigantic multinational corporation (MNC) like Ahold you'd think they'd operate all their stores under one name to maximize economies of scale. I guess they're trying to pretend consumers have more choices than they really do and/or the supermarkets themselves have some sort of local connection, which they had once upon a time but no longer do.

Roflmao!! :)

My spouse insists on going to Walmart every week for groceries. We go in the middle of the night ~1am, but it's still pretty bad.

As for what I'd rather do, I cannot say anything more apt than what Peko said.

As bad as that sounds, there actually IS something worse than that: Stepping into a tank of pirhanas.

Wal-Martyr topic

I just love Wal-Mart. Just around the corner from me. Everything I need at reasonable prices.

Agreed....there's not all that many corporations which are innocent in this regard or many others.

Eh....anything else I could say about the whole thing would probably just be a case of preaching to the converted.

Usually when I go into a place like Wal-Mart I try to go in the middle of a sunny day, or very late at night. The reason being for going in the middle of a sunny day is that it gives me an excuse to wear my sunglasses inside, making it a lot more comfortable on me. If I have to go late at night, I don't usually run into other people anyway. Then I just put some earbuds in and listen to some music while I do my shopping; drowning out everyone else with some music helps a lot too.

I recline the seat back and take a nap while my significant other ventures in.

I don't mind Wal Mart. I haven't been to one in a while. I don't shop much is why. The last department store I walked into was Fred Meyers (A store chain out in the Pacific Northwest) because my husband needed a bus pass and he found the movie Adam for me.

Lot of people here seem to hate Wal Mart so they voted it our of my aunt and uncle's neighborhood where they were going to build one. But my area has about four Wal Marts. Two on the same road which is funny because they are not far from each other. One is a supercenter and the other is regular.

I don't have a Wal Mart near me, but I have a K-Mart. I find I'm ok in there. I don't like the close proximity of people in there though. That's when I tend to panic.

I would rather go running...of course, running is fun for me so that's beside the point! lol I can't shop for too long, as I get sensory overload. I get headaches from moving from one place to the other, with advertisements flashing in front of your eyes, people crowding around you, different smells...it goes on. I usually don't go shopping just because I want to buy stuff; I usually have something in mind that I would like to buy. I get distracted (especially if it's around something I just like looking at). However, I'm usually a "go in, and go out" kind of shopper. That's why I really like shopping online. It can be cheaper, easy, and a bit less of a hassle. It's also almost like Christmas with a package coming in the mail. It also makes me think about what I would like to buy, as I would have to wait for it to come in the mail. Just to let others who don't know, buying your textbooks online can literally save you hundreds or thousands of dollars as compared to buying them at the bookstore. All it takes is a bit of thinking ahead.

For those who don't go to Wal Mart. Look at all the fun you're missing.

I don't like normal crowds and yet when it's expected (Black Friday) for example. I don't mind it since I EXPECT a crowd!! :-)

The lights, the crowds, the echoes, the smell of BO, the crying babies, the unknowledgeable staff, the sea of faces... Wal-Mart

Help me make a list of things would rather do than go inside Wal-Mart. I'll start.

Get my teeth drilled
Rub grandma's bunions
Stab a fork under my fingernail
Drink month-old milk
Wax uncle bob's back
Watch The View

You got me laughing!! A lot.
Cosco ----- Now that is just as bad for me --- just entering the cosco or walmart parking lot does me in.
I am fine sometimes as long as I try to blank out everything (simliar to another post). Hate always having to avoid bumping into someone and doing this fake smile thing and smile when you really wanted to say, "It was just as much your fault." (I am ADHD not AS-most likely).

Hmmmm.....I may have to think on this one....
Oh....
Listen to my husband eat ten bananna's. Why put your teeth together and chomp so hard when it's soft??? ***shivers***

Draw or write something with chalk

Pop another persons oozing pus-filled back zit

Listen to someone clip their toenails for ten minutes or longer

Go shopping for clothes in a quiet place (shoping for clothes sucks)

Clean up the dog poo in our back yard after a good rain using our plastic bags.

Fold laundry for an hour (once I hyperfocus I can be alright depending on my mood).

Listen to my dogs bark continously when missionaries come to my door LOL (in response of a previous poster).

Watch a SHORT episode of teletubbies.

that place is also a cell phone dead zone

& they have an absurd number of security cameras i've noticed

maybe it's all their electronics embedded in the ceiling that mess with my cell's reception in there :? ?
